Has it always been this slow at the end of July? This seems kind of unseemly, even for us. And we finally have a better-than-average team!!! Must be the lack of draft picks.

I feel like Leon has to do something to get us all talking again. But I guess that between doing nothing and doing something stoooopid, I’ll take him doing nothing.

other than the obvious one 😛 – it seems we have a roster full of players who will play to or exceed their contract value…

i think quik playing for 22.5 million or less a year for us fits in fine…

If those are the actual numbers I think that contract will age well under the new CBA.

Seems like Josh Hart is going to be extended for 4 years @ $18.5M AAV. That seems pretty much in line with expectations and on the high side of fair.

It’s possible that the Knicks feel Taj is only good for being a mentor and with the current team there is less need for that role. It’s also possible that they are waiting for further development in the market before filling that final roster spot so that they don’t have to worry about cutting a player if they want to add someone. I remember them doing that in a previous year.

It’s just a bit hard to believe that this 9-man rotation will be intact on opening day. I’m bracing for something to eventually happen with either IQ or Grimes.

Which is my way of saying that I think Thibs and the FO are as bamboozled by RJ as I am, at least according to his non-believers here. Not that he won’t be dangled, but I don’t see RJ moving unless it’s for an alpha-type player. Not after what he showed in the playoffs.

Taj.
Why not?
We have Knight on a 2-way, Roby and Sims capable of playing the 4 but not guaranteed minutes, a planned rotation to get Hart and RJ minutes at PF with the 2nd unit, and Taj doesn’t NEED to play- but can still contribute when needed. Plus he has alot to teach the guys angling for PF minutes- even Randle. We’d have to clear a roster spot, so I wonder if we can maybe get in a 3 teamer with the Spurs and send McBuckets somewhere that he’ll be used in. But given the roster construction, it actually makes sense to bring Taj back for a season.
