Portland literally swapped out Hart for Thybulle and proceeded to lose 11 out of their next 15 games. Doc Rivers wasn’t a good coach in Philly, but don’t let that fool you into thinking that Thybulle deserved more than 12 mpg there. Even surrounding him with two all-time great scorers didn’t soften the anemia of his offense, surrounding him with Knicks isn’t gonna make him better (no offense to Grimes, Hart, and IQ:)

If Portland goes the rebuild route and trades Dame, what would you all think of going after Thybulle?

Thybulle plus Hart, IQ, and Grimes would be a pretty potent defensive group on the wing.

He was visibly kicked in the heart chakra by a 250 pound man while he lay on the ground, seems kind of unfair to dock him $30,000,000 for that.

Have you seen Sabonis play defense? Neither has anyone else

A quick perusal of the max contract recipient list in the NBA indicates to me that defense plays no role when it comes to offering players a lot of money.

I think there are two reasons Sabonis isn’t getting a max extension: first, he may be giving Sacto a discount if they make a real move with the extra money. Secondly, he was totally neutered on offense and defense in the playoffs and that probably suppressed his value.

Also, I think it would be malpractice to trade IQ for a first. He’s our third or fourth best player and is worth more than the average mid lotto pick even on extension money, and that’s without projecting any further growth. He’s really good! I would extend him, but RFA would be fine if Leon wants to keep the cap clean into next year.

I don’t think our plan is to be a tax payer team with the current roster. If we just run it back, Leon will move Fournier to save money, maybe attaching 1 or 2 second round picks, i’d say.

They’d be in the tax with an IQ extension even with Fournier being removed from the team. That’s why they likely won’t extend IQ this year.

I don’t recall that at all. What could the possible argument have been? He was clearly a good fit.

I like the idea, Ben, but my guess is that it has almost no chance of happening. Looks like Cam will either re-up with the Nets or wind up in Detroit.

I still think the move is trading Randle for Cam Johnson. I am unsure if Brooklyn does it but Randle makes a ton of sense for them. They are the 2nd worst rebounding team and could use some toughness inside. They could also use another offensive focal point, I don’t think Bridges can carry the load all alone.

It gets us a shooter, improves our defense, and makes us more positionally flexible, potentially freeing Obi for some more minutes next to Cam.
