You’re describing what Woodson did in game 4 of the Indiana series when he panicked about getting outrebounded and came up with the worst adjustment ever (benching Pablo Prigioni and starting Kenyon Martin).

You’re right, Thibs won’t do that. He is no fool. And I totally understand being grateful to have a coach who isn’t a fool after all the fools that have come through.

What I would say is that Thibs is patient until the evidence is clear (which means many games) or there is an obvious mismatch that can be observed.

You don’t get “many games” of evidence to sit back and observe. The Knicks dominated the paint in the first half of game 1. If Spoelstra had waited til game 3 to make a change, we’d be up 2-0.
