At UNC, my alma mater, there was unsurprisingly a lot of good pickup to be had. One time I was playing pickup outside on the courts near the Dean Dome and Reggie Bullock and PJ Hairston walk up to us and ask if they can play. We told them yes but they had to be on separate teams. It basically turned into a game of one on one, though I defended Reggie two possessions: the first I forced him into a tough midrange shot that he clanked (I’m 5’10), so that was awesome. The second he just shot over me from 25 feet—nothing but net. He also rode my friend’s skateboard one time!

This Suns Nuggets game is a pretty good proof of why a modern NBA shot distribution matters. The Suns hit so many midrange shots but it didn’t matter because the Nuggets simply made 9 more threes and dominated inside on the rebounding.

When I moved down here my dad used to get Dolphins tickets from his boss so I became a fan especially because of Dan Marino. I rooted for the Giants cause one of my first sports memories was watching them win the Super Bowl vs Denver so I figured it was OK to root for the Dolphins too since they were in the AFC. But the day Dan Marino retired I officially stopped rooting for them. Naturally I’ve hated the Heat ever since the moment Pat Riley joined them.
