Obi might be fine, but he’s an average player at best and Haliburton is 10th in BPM and still only 22 years old. He is shaping up to be a supermax All-NBA player and was chosen with the 12th pick.

I’m still pro-Obi. He’s improved his shot significantly and that was one of the main concerns coming out of the draft. He’s shown he can score efficiently and in bunches when given the chance.

If Randle, who had led the team to a 21-45 record the year before with a stellar -0.3 BPM, was traded we’d all think much more highly about Obi.

At worst he’s a pretty average outcome for an 8th pick.

Knicks Fan, I partially agree with you, but to me it’s more “Can we be a consistently good team” (as I think we’ve already shown we ARE a good team when we focus). Also the related question, obviously, is HOW good a team can we be?

Brunson helps with the consistency, so there’s real hope there (and tip of the cap to Randle, although I think his consistency can be at least partially laid at Brunson’s feet). As for the second part, I think that’s up to whether some let-downs improve significantly (e.g., Quentin’s three-point %, Mitch coming back strong, RJ improving at any/all aspects of his game, etc.).
