I'm really worried about tonight's game.

1. The Magic are much better than their overall record indicates. They are 6-4 over their last 10, and 17-13 over their 30. Granted, I picked a starting point that maximized the results, but that's not a bad team over 30 games.

2. The Knicks are coming off a huge win. They could let down a bit or be taking this team lightly when they shouldn't be. This could be a tough game.

3. RJ may be back. That's the scariest of all. He could easily go 6-18 with 4 TOs and snatch a loss out of the jaws of victory.

"Speaking of “not materializing”, how is your theory that Thibs knows the shooting tendencies of all 450 NBA players and has devised a notoriously complex defensive system that forces players to take the wide open 3PAs that they’re bad at making holding up in the absence of Mitch?"

I'm not sure why you keep harping on this.

1. There is technology being used in the NBA that can track this. Mark Cuban was the person that made me aware of it. Years back he said the Mavs used it and he knew within a few square feet what spots on the court were better than others. They used it for specific players to help find strength and weaknesses and try to force players to their weaknesses and know more about their own player's strengths.

2. You don't have to know every single detail about every single player for something like this to be effective. You just have to know things like whether the player prefers going left or right, shooting from the left corner or right corner, left wing or right wing, straight on etc.. It's all fairly standard scouting and data that can then be used to help defensively at the margin.

Any coach that focuses heavily on defense, has the data, and prepares his players well is going to go over things like this to gain little edges.

Yeah, having 2 bad defenders seems to be the team's limit without Mitch in there. Mitch seemed okay holding it down with all 3 in. Be curious to see the Mitch & 3 stats, or maybe Mitch & 3 stats with a 5th guy who can play defense (basically anyone except Fournier).

Supposedly we're no longer pursuing OG
