I'd need to be blown away in a deal to give up IQ. Much rather give up Obi (from a winning perspective, his dunks make this team tolerable at times).

IQ is a 36% shooter from 3 & 88% on FTs. He's an excellent shooter, he just can't get to the basket which deflates his fg%.

He shot better on pull-ups last season than he did on C&S 3s. The season before that it was the opposite.

iq career 3p on 271 catch and shoot attempts is 38.7%, about 2 pts above avg over that span. a weird thing about iq is that his 3pt shot selection looks almost comically random to me. the only high volume shooter i can think of where i never have a clue if he's going to shoot or attack a closeout. it's like he's gto'ing out there.

If he was playing off the ball and he was the player the PG was kicking it out to, I think his 3P% would be a lot better than when he’s dribbling around trying to create something for himself or others.

I agree he's a SG and not a PG.
And I hate when he probes the paint below the FT line and come back dribbling "in reverse" without shooting or passing, like a crazy yo-yo...

Just to clarify, I think the ceiling for both IQ and Obi is 5th best starter on a really good team and that their most likely positive outcome is key bench piece. I just don't see enough upside in either case to merit getting worked up about it, although from a likeablilty standpoint both are very fun to root for.

I wonder if IQ spent too much time in the weight room this offseason and is going through something like what Mitch went through at the beginning of last season, except just limited to his shooting. I look at the confidence with which 3pt shooters from other teams fire away and IQ just doesn't seem to have that right now. He seems hyperfocused on getting by guys and that hurts him. Now if he could get consistent with pulling up from 3 to the point that he draws defenses a half-step closer to him, he will be more effective in getting into the paint. But it seems like he hesitates way too much.

I’m not sure how much of this trade talk is real, but I feel like we have a LOT of time before the trade deadline and should learn as much as we can about these young players before doing anything.

I saw a couple of plays the other night where I was back to thinking there’s no way Obi is ready to be a starting PF on this team. Maybe he would be OK starting on a team where all they need is efficient but limited usage, but he’s too limited to count on every night. He’d be too easy to take out of the game. Of course, he’s going to get better, but we don’t know how much better or when. So we might as well wait and see.

Cam is improving, but he’s still without enough of a role on offense and very inconsistent.

We haven’t seen what Grimes can do at all.

Quick will be fine, but again, IMO he’s not a PG (at least yet).

IMO we should keep plodding along trying to get better and see where it all shakes out in a couple of months.

"where’s the poll? same return. rather deal quick or obi?"

I don't vote in that one. It's like two election deniers running against each other. There's no good outcome.

And just to spread random rumors, let's not forget Rose lost 20 lbs over the offseason. As with Mitch overbulking at the start of last year, it's very possible that's affected him. He's listed as 6'3", 200. If he's now 180, that's pretty trim. And it's not like he was soft, so a lot of that loss was muscle mass.
