This is the kind of dangerous broad-brush Trumpist drivel that is driving our country towards the brink. THE MEDIA IS THE ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE!!!

The “straight story” to the degree it can be told is more available to everyone than it ever was. It’s up to consumers to figure that out and form opinions. Kobe’s (and Derrick Rose’s) history is out there for anyone to peruse, thanks to the media.

Well first, when 9 of your 12 potential rotation players are either still on their first contract (5) or just signed their second (4) the uncertainty is about where they are relaive to their ceilings, both individually and as a team.

Then there’s uncertainty about Thibs and how he will deploy them.

Then as to Randle, who knows which version we will get and how MSG and your beloved media will react to him?

The one bit of certainty is about health. While anything can happen, there seems to be no players who will come into training camp nursing an injury.

IMO, the only major unknown is the progress of the young players. We don’t know who is going to move forward and at what rate. But that is the nature of young teams and why fans like them. They give you hope that a couple of players will take a significant jump up and the team will be a lot better than last year. I already know what Randle and Fournier can do.

I'm an equal opportunity hater of all media spinners, liars, hypocrites, and worse. Unfortunately, that covers a huge swath of media people both left and right even if they are spinning, lying, and being hypocrites on different issues and in different directions. In this case, that includes the well known hypocrites in the NBA that cower when China says boo because they may make less money.

IMO there should be some consistency.

Kobe was not only given a pass by many, he was turned into a hero by some of the very same people that would have destroyed others for less. I'm calling BS on that hypocrisy in media and the NBA.

Now if you want to talk basketball, imo he does not deserve to be on the very short list of all time greats, but the metrics that say he was wildly overrated are garbage too.

The media is full of a bunch of hypocrites that decide who to destroy and who forgive based on a set of criteria that has no consistency other than possibly personal politics.

Kobe gets hero worship from many, but that’s part of what makes him a lightening rod (along with a wide range of opinions on his contribution to the winning). Some people don’t so easily forgive and forget and resent the hypocrisy.

His treatment of women didn’t make the last paragraph of his obituaries, dude.
