I heard Houston is open to trading their pick.

That’s interesting. If the Houston GM, who seems like a smart guy, thinks it would be better to have multiple later picks than having number three, maybe we should stand pat with our pick.

The draft is is still a value oriented decision.

The correct question is “is there anyone available to us at #11 that we want to give the required long 1st round contract to?”.

Then you start thinking about opportunities to move up, move down, trade, or roll it out if there are better deals available.

i remember they had this park around a lake with a fountain in the middle close by their downtown, it was a nice park…i think the best thing about orlando though, was that it was only like 50 miles away from daytona beach…

yeah, the tampa bay area (particularly by the water) is much nicer…

Let’s see if what is taken between 8-10 is much better than what’s available at 11 before we get upset. Don’t get me wrong I hate Dolan and Thibs as much as anyone but I’m not going to lose sleep over slipping a couple spots when it looks like we’ll have at least a couple really nice players fall to us.

I don’t care that much about tanking or not tanking. I just want to see our young players play a lot of minutes and not have to watch Randle or our squad of vet mercs play at all. If we do that like we did to finish the season I am fine where ever we pick.

Guys, I’m not saying to move to Orlando. I’m saying that, when you are alone, at your computer, typing to a bunch of strangers about how the Knicks are stupid for winning meaningless games with veterans on market rate contracts and playing for the 10th seed instead of developing their young players, there ARE other options. But if denigrating Orlando and Magic fans makes you feel better about rooting for a team owned by James Dolan, go for it. (Personally, when I’m watching basketball on TV, I don’t care much about the actors or musicians sitting court-side, or the cuisine around the arena, or whether there’s an opera house to be seen in any of the aerial blimp shots, or who the governor living way off in the state capital is. Pretty much everybody here agrees that it’s fun to watch a bunch of young players with upside grow together. The Magic leaders in minutes were Wagner, Anthony, Carter, Bamba, and Okeke, all 23 and under, plus they have Suggs, Fultz, Hampton, Isaac(!), and now the #1 pick waiting to make their impacts. Whatever bad decisions they’ve made in the past are moot, the future is bright, and it’s precisely because they have done what a lot of people here have implored the Knicks to do.)

They still suck and many other teams have lapped them multiple times by other means of rebuilding. If they fuck up this pick like they fucked up last year’s they will continue to suck.
