He went back to the Cavs because Kyrie was breaking out and they had a deal for Love lined up.

When he went to LA, he did not expect it to be rebulding team, but Magic was so wildly incompetent it delayed things by a year.

I have to agree that T2 is better. But both are masterpieces and its similar to The Godfather argument bc you can’t have the sequel without the original. But I rewatched T2 recently and the effects still hold up 30 years later, which is crazy. The liquid metal would look a bit more realistic if it came out today but there is nothing in that movie that couldn’t be done today and look amazing. And I love the story building on the world created in the first one.

But the first Terminator is really really good. But it is more like a simple horror/monster film whereas T2 is a real sci-fi action masterpiece.

Too bad they had to keep making them after that cause they could have ended it right there and it was the perfect place to do so.

I’m also biased because I was going into 8th grade when T2 came out and it was probably the most excited I ever was to see a summer movie. And my brother took me and my best friend to see T2 at a special midnight screening the night it opened (my parents allowed it since it was the summer and my brother was taking me). But it was a big deal for me to get to see an R rated movie at midnight at age 13. And it did not disappoint. Plus, I was a huge Guns & Roses fan and had been listening to “You Could Be Mine” on the radio for for weeks leading up to that movie.

Ntilakilla: At the risk of offending other Knickerbloggers I will go on the record as saying that T2 >>> The Terminator. T2 had better effects, better performances, and developed a strong humanist theme whereas the original Terminator was really well done monster movie with a Bootstrap/Grandfather Paradox. I don’t know if there’s a more perfect action science fiction movie ever made than T2 to be honest and the effects still hold up to this day almost 30 years since. I don’t think there’s ever been a better female action hero than Sarah Conner in T2 or a better performance by a female action movie star than Linda Hamilton in the film.

I agree in principle, but the original was far better and more groundbreaking than you describe. And there was less need to suspend belief….the “friendly” terminator, the liquid metal, the characters not getting killed in the elevator…

The original was very simple and raw, and the conceptual framework was elegant in its simplicity.
