The only important stat is death rate.

Which we don't actually know because we didn't even have tests to check seriously ill people until very recently, and most of the people this is killing are dying from secondary things like pneumonia.

a populace that is far more accustomed to “following orders” from their leadership than America.

S Korea didn't institute a lock down, they just did social distancing. What they did do was aggressive test and then track the movements and interactions of people who were infected so that everybody who was exposed knew they were exposed and could self-quarantine. The problem they faced was a SK cult that had an event in Wuhan and when those attendees got back they spread around the country but also didn't tell anyone where they had been because you know. Cult. They've actually handled the situation a lot better than anyone else who's had to deal with the spread has. Again, not via lockdown, just via the same thing we're doing now plus aggressive testing.

Trump shut the flights down to a chorus of high dudgeon from “most” of you when he did it.

Except he didn't. He barred entry to people with Chinese passports. He didn't stop anyone who'd been in China from coming. The US still isn't doing any testing of people arriving on international flights, when every other country has been doing temperature screenings for over a month and actually flagging people who are arriving from hot spots for actual testing. It was, literally, a policy based on race that didn't actually do much at all to stop the spread. Security theater, as they say.

"As of Monday, March 16, Spectrum is offering households with K-12 and college students free WiFi access and broadband (high-speed internet) for the next 60 days. But this only applies to households who do not already have a Spectrum WiFi and broadband subscription.

To enroll, or to ask for more information, call 1-844-488-8395 or go to spectrum.com.

Installation fees will be waived for new student households. For most new customers, self-installation is an option and free professional installation is also available."

"First case in South Korea and the first case in the US were identified on January 20th, same damn day. One government took it seriously, the other did not (and compounded that error with a bunch of other unforced ones)."

There is so much crap in this post I don't know where to start

First of all the only important data actually argues the opposite of your position. The only important stat is death rate. I don't give a crap how many tests are taken if they don't translate into outcomes.

For example South Korea has 51,000,000 people and the US around 330,000,000 about 1/6th of the US population. They have world class infrastructure, education and a populace that is far more accustomed to "following orders" from their leadership than America. They have taken 14 times the tests as America as of 3/17 (the best data I could find).

With all their "seriousness" and Trump's "frivolity", how come the per capita death rate is ~ 2.5 time greater in RoK than America???

America has one of the lowest death rates of the industrialized nations save Canada and Germany and America was getting 500,000 visitors per month from China til Trump shut the flights down to a chorus of high dudgeon from "most" of you when he did it.

If you live in Switzerland (probably #1 on most people's list of the most livable country)you are about 8 times more likely to die than in America, France 8 times more likely to die, Italy 75 times more likely to die, The Netherlands 6 times more likely to die and I could go on and on.

I understand all things Trump must suck, but the data doesn't agree with you........just your cognitive bias.

>If the government can borrow money at basically zero percent or even sell bonds at negative interest rates, which it is the situation now, it really won’t have trouble getting enough money to actually govern.<

The fed can monetize whatever the government needs. Of course that can have negative consequences, but if the government comes to market with a couple of trillion dollars worth of bonds and the market can't handle it at prevailing interest rates, the fed will print the money. That's basically what QE (quantitative easing) is.

Mike, they didn't die faster. They just grew slower. Takes a long time for word-of-mouth to spread out of one's hick county. But various versions of the Klan have festered and grown for decades all over the US (for example).

Was looking into Ingmarr's story -- sadly most of it's clearly true, even if you're just searching the US press (sorry Ingmarr, don't mean to suggest you weren't telling the truth -- I was actually proofing for a curious friend).

We all knew this was coming to us all eventually, but it's a little startling to see nonetheless.

>Sean Payton the prior Saturday:

attended a race at Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs, Arkansas<

On the racing forum I frequent, people posted pictures of the winners circle celebrations of a few of the big races that day and groups of people were shaking hands, hugging etc... after their victories. In the thread, the entire thing was sharply criticized as the kind of higher risk behavior we need to end and then a positive came out of the day. Fortunately, most of the tracks that have remained open (very few), have no fans and only essential people for handling the horses .

Aqueduct closed down today because a backstretch employee at Belmont tested positive. The track has its own isolation area where he was quickly moved along with a roommate. Several star jockeys have stopped riding.

>What happens with all the bets that were made this season? A friend bet the Knicks over in Vegas. He isn’t sure either.<

That's a good question. I was going to lose my only bet anyway because I took the Bulls and over and the entire season was an injury filled debacle with a lot of unhappy players. Maybe they will prorate based on number of games played.

Just saw people on Facebook debating the merits of the theory that the virus was designed in a lab (by THEM) to cover up the arrests of prominent world pedophiles like Bill Gates and Tom Hanks, who apparently were ratted on by Harvey Weinstein. But, don't worry because, if this is true, Trump (a trusted source of truth) will let us know so we can Drain The Swamp and The Storm Is Coming and Make America Great Again and Something Something Deep State Illuminati Dumbocrats Libtards Pizzagate Lock Her Up.

I wonder if fever swamp theories like this died faster in the days before the Internet, when to spread them you'd have to explain such an abysmally stupid theory to someone in person and risk them laughing in your face over it.
