The thing is Griffin had so little leverage and still got what he got. I’m not a fan of Ingram, but Hart is a serviceable player and Lonzo is still promising, plus all the picks are assets even if they don’t pay off as lottery picks.

It’s a remarkable return for Griffin. So many pick swaps! Wow!

The reason the Knicks shouldn’t have offered what LA did has nothing to do with Mitch. You’d give him up to get AD all day. It’s that the Knicks don’t already have another top 10/15 star to pair with AD. You don’t potentially give up your first round picks for the next half-decade to become a less talented version of New Orleans. And you don’t do it even if you can also sign Kyrie because then you are still a less talented version of LA right now.

And this is a win for LA in the sense that a few more smart moves will make them a legit contender for the next two seasons…but after that? Yeesh.

I’m just sorta glad I can go back to hating the Lakers without restrictions with them possibly contending. It’s much easier to hate the Lakers than the Warriors were, with Steph and all their decades of being terrible.

And then every year, just like with the Celtics, we’re gonna be saying “OMG, another first round pick for New Orleans? How many freakin’ picks do they have”?

I think Griffin did a tremendous job under the circumstances.
