Trading up from 47 to 55 to select a player who doesn’t move the needle at all about our roster weaknesses doesn’t make any sense.

What do you expect to get at 47? this guy has a pretty impressive statistical profile for a freshman in a major conference. WS/48> .200 …. 39.3% 3 ball shooting with a relatively large sample. I mean WTF???

That said, I’m totally ok with RJ. Not my kind of player but not Wiggins either. Only the multiple Kobe references scare me a bit.

As much as Kobe is aesthetically panned around here, if Barrett turns out to be a Kobe clone that would be an unbelievably terrific out come. A lot of winning seemed to follow Kobe around his first 14 years in the league.

I don’t think they’re risk averse. I think they’re deeply flawed in talent evaluation, and that doesn’t bode well for the incoming free agency. Trading up from 47 to 55 to select a player who doesn’t move the needle at all about our roster weaknesses doesn’t make any sense.

Perry and Mills so far seem to be very averse to risk, almost like they’re scared of making moves so they don’t get burned.

Trading Porzingis isn’t a risk averse move…… especially trading him in 28 seconds.

Knicks also signed Amir Hinton who was one of the better players in D2, pretty good stats for a SG but obviously weak competition. Came out a year early too which is rare for a non-D1 player.

Well, if we don’t sign free agents, we’re gonna suck next year anyway, so I don’t think we should worry too much about getting good defenders or team composition… Perry and Mills so far seem to be very averse to risk, almost like they’re scared of making moves so they don’t get burned.

I’m not unhappy about the draft results but it’s just what it is, uninspiring but not bad. I would give them a C for now.

Trying to get even remotely intrigued about Wilkes is one of the more difficult things I’ve done in a while. I guess his 2PT% is pretty solid at his volume? Half-decent 3PT% at high-ish volume?

I have no problem with picking RJ but all 3 picks do very little to counter the idea that these guys are all about buckets…and nothing else.
