Highly recommend last night’s Knicks Film School podcast where they went through the salary machinations of this summer including why (unless the 2 theoretical max FAs agree to take less) it’s likely one of DSJ/Frank/Trier will not be here next year. I really like Jeremy Cohen’s idea of trying to send DSJ to his hometown Charlotte Hornets perhaps for that 2020 Cleveland 2nd rounder, which I assume will be a top 5 pick in that round next year, assuming that a PG comes in FA – Kemba seems likely to leave, and if so, they’ll need some sort of crowdpleaser and young prospect at the position.

I like DSJ just fine but there’s no question he will be redundant on a team that might have Kyrie and Trier on it. One could easily find an acceptable backup PG for the minimum — especially with (theoretically) Kyrie/KD acting as recruiters.
