I know it seems nitpicky (coming off a 100 win season, arguably World Series favorites), but when you compare the Yankees’ revenue vs payroll expenditure to all MLB teams they’re in the bottom third of the league. The revenue they generate really is on an entirely different level from just about anyone else. I guess, given that, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to ask that money gets spent on all of the non-payroll stuff BBA mentioned (which I do believe is a very good investment) AND make obvious upgrades when it’s possible to do so using just money (not very often these days, look at all the recent extensions).

However I’ve read a ton of articles about how much the Yankees invest on non-payroll stuff like their analytical department, things like teachers in the minor leagues so the foreign players can learn english, their minor league clubhouses etc and they still employ a huge scouting dept which alot of teams have severely cut back on with the increase of analytics. Some of this stuff may seem like obvious things to do but alot of franchises don’t invest that much on these things while the Yankees invest heavily on this stuff. It’s one of the main reasons why they have become so good at developing their young talent now.

Of course, but if you read the latest reports the alleged incident occured at 2am yet she decided to stay with KP until 11am. Then her FIRST move was to call the Knicks to mediate about the money. Read the ESPN report. This is looking much more like extortion than rape. Let the legal system tackle this, but my point is that it’s so easy to cry rape and there’s no defense. You’re tried publicly and your reputation is ruined. It’s important to not rush to conclusions about KP or the woman yet KP’s rep in now in trash and there’s nothing that will restore it.

Say worst case scenario is we pick 5, assuming Morant goes top 3, do you take Clarke at 5 or trade down in the hope he is still there. 5 doesn’t seem too high for Clarke based on his stats in comparison to other lottery prospects, however mocks/big boards have him anywhere between 8 and mid 1st round. Pending how the lottery goes do we look at trading our 1st (if it doesn’t fall top 3) for 8-10 plus a 2020 first? I personally wouldn’t be adverse to trading down, however it seems a bit risky given how the talent appears to tail off after about pick 4 or 5.

I have to admit that this year I just haven’t followed the potential picks as much. It’s just so obvious that Zion is #1 and the Knicks will pick #5, I’m like pre-depressed or something. This guy is all but a lock to be there at #5, especially since he won’t get a Final Four bump. Watch his post moves. He’s equal parts Siakam and John Collins IMO. Not sure if he’ll experience the meteoric improvement in 3P% like Siakam, but his athleticism, instincts, touch and defensive awareness are second only to Zion in college ball. The guy is just a pure baller and the stats back that up.
