Man was DSJ fun to watch tonight. I've been watching the Knicks for over 30 years and I don't think they've ever had a more athletic and explosive point guard, even including Marbury. It's all small samples so far but he looks to be attacking the cup a ton more with the Knicks than he was with Dallas with 44% of his shots coming at the rim and a FTR of .389, both of which are way higher than his Dallas numbers. I'm not sure what's up with his free throw shooting but presumably that will get better as time goes on. Like many have noted, he seems to have some mechanical issues with his shot.

Will be interesting to see what happens this summer, not necessarily with KD as that hopefully seems to be semi-baked in already, but with that 2nd max slot. The team seems to have a fair amount of investment in DSJ in that they've been chasing him for a while -- doesn't really make sense to have DSJ around if Kyrie is going to be your ball-dominant guard. It may be that beggars can't be choosers, but if the FO is sold on developing DSJ as the PG of the future, chasing Klay Thompson or Khris Middleton may make a lot more sense. Kawhi would be the dream but that seems like a done deal to either go to LA or maybe stay in Toronto. Actually I wouldn't want to give him a max, but Tobias Harris would fit well too.

Really enjoyable win, and I can’t believe I’m saying this.

I’m positively impressed by Smith Jr, you don’t just stumble upon a 13 assists 0 turnovers game against a decent team. Mitch was also amazing, I just love him so much, I’m at the point where he’s untouchable on any trade that isn’t massively ridiculously lopsided in our favor. 15/14 on 7 shots plus 5 blocks on 30 minutes is just incredible production for anyone, let alone a kid who barely knows how to play organized high level basketball.

I haven't a big DSJ fan, but he looked good tonight. He's clearly our best pure PG. His shot and decision making have to improve a bit, but at least there's some hope at that position now.

I have been a Dotson fan from the start. I'm starting to think he could eventually be more than just a good two-way role player. I know practice doesn't count, but in warmups he's smooth as silk and doesn't miss. He can really shoot. It takes time to translate that into games under pressure. He won't be an all-star caliber player, but if he can knock down 3s consistently in the 40% range, I don't see why he can't be a starter on a very good team. He's probably going to continue to vanish on offense at times because he can't create off the dribble well, but he's young enough to keep adding to his game.

It’s funny because this is pretty clearly a makeup Oscar for previous snubs but it’s for Adapted Screenplay instead of Director or Picture.

So true. And the funny thing is that the screenplay they adapted for Blackkklansman was way watered down from the actual story which was actually focused around the high level infiltration of our armed forces by white supremacists tied to Duke's operation. The movie only briefly touched upon that actual case and had to cook up a whole other made up story about a bunch of racist rednecks plotting some assassination against Black Power activists. Sad to see this get more recognition than Boots Riley's "Sorry to Bother You" - a way better film touching upon similar themes of institutionalized racism.
