FWIW, Knox is a much better 3-pt shooter rignt now than than Gordon ever was, so the comparison doesn’t work for me. Tobias Harris maybe?

Its not about inflating value of our own players. Its about believing in the process of developing our players and seeing that process through. “Selling High” is nice in theory and when its an obvious sell high situation you go for it. But when does that actually happen?

Lets say you trade Knox not for one of those players you mentioned but for another top ten pick in THIS year’s draft. What would that achieve exactly except starting us over on another player?

And I would definitely take Allen over Knox, but that list is reasonable.

While I agree that Knox is real young and I wouldn’t trade him unless it were for a real haul, let me ask you this — which of these players would you trade for Knox straight up?

IMHO and in the context of the current Knicks roster, I would only trade Knox for Doncic and JJJ out of this list. We already have a glut of playable and even valuable center-types, and while I really like Bam, Carter, Collins, and Allen, I’m not sure the delta there is worth trading Knox (also not taking into account the extra year of control we have with Knox as compared with Bam, Collins, and Allen). in terms of positional scarcity, it’s just a lot easier to find 6’6″ and under backcourt guys than it is 6’10” primary scorers, so while i also love SGA, that’d be a difficult one — certainly not out of the question.

Knox is pretty awful on defense as of now, and his efficiency is still sort of bad, but man, does he do a lot of things that look pretty rare for a 19 year old. He’d probably go 5th or 6th in a redraft, behind Ayton, Luca, JJJ, Bagley, and maybe SGA depending on the team.
