I dunno, I see Nurkic as an old-school center with a decent but not great 2-way game who will get exposed in the playoffs. He doesn’t shoot the 3, or shoot particularly efficiently, or guard in space. He passes well but turns the ball over and fouls a lot. Put him on our team and I doubt that he makes much of a difference over Kanter if they played equal minutes. He’s on a great contract. I’d still go with KP’s ceiling.

That’s the kind of trade Phil should have made.

Not to mention that Nurkic was drafted with the pick that Phil could have easily acquired in a Melo sign and trade. You can’t assume results, of course, but there very much is a universe where the Knicks drafted Gary Harris and Nurkic in one year and then KP in the next.

@>8, d-mar. Great question and 1 of my pet peeves. The Bosnian Beast’s classic big man production vs KP’s tantalizing potential as a modern big. But why not both? That’s the kind of trade Phil should have made. To dump Nurkic, Denver gave up a number 1 and got back a Plumlee and a number 2. We even had a Plumlee (or O’quinn) to give at the time. Good GMs cannot miss on this type of value add. My fear now is that this type of insight is beyond Mills/Perry.

I feel like we started missing a lot of inside shots from about the last 4-5 minutes of the 2nd quarter onward.
