Here we are, about 25% into the season, and we've seen how this team can compete. Even in losing, they are doing really well. It makes me believe, that with one or two pieces beyond KP, and a bit more time, this team is on it's way. How easily could this team be a 15 win team? How many games were lost in the last few minutes? I watch every game, hoping for a great game. I'm seeing that and the light at the end of this dark tunnel too.

when you draft guys who you think are going to be long term projects you can’t be surprised when they suck.

Sure, but I think we need to establish what it actually means to be a worthwhile "project."

There are some players in the draft that you can reasonably expect to be productive in the NBA, but for various reasons (specific flaws that need to be addressed, physical traits, etc.) it'll likely take a few seasons. I'd put guys like Giannis, Jonathan Isaac, De'Aaron Fox (though he's becoming good quickly), Kristaps Porzingis, Mo Bamba, and Mitchell Robinson in this category. I'm happy to draft them and wait because they demonstrate, at least to some extent, what their production in the NBA could look like.

There are other players who get labeled as "projects" simply because, well, they aren't good at anything. Unfortunately as of now it feels like our last two lottery picks fall into this category. It's one thing to say "if Player X develops a consistent jump shot he'll be great." It's another to say "if Player X learns to shoot, pass, rebound, dribble, and play defense he'll be great." If you find yourself being tempted by one of these guys in the draft, the chances are overwhelmingly likely that there's a better choice.

Umm...don't look now..but this level of play by THJ just may be sustainable! He may even become an all star under Fiz' tutelage. I can't believe what I'm seeing nor that I'm saying this, but what's really impressing me is the way he finds other ways to show up when his shot isn't falling. He's getting to the line yal! Next thing you know, he's got somewhere around 20 points or more off of 4-6 baskets made. He's still super streaky with his shooting, but who knew we'd see this version of THJ? This is absolutely nuts!

We have the right coach. I can't wait to see what the team looks like once KP is back and the kids are developing.
