I really like Frank at the 3. His D is even better against bigger, slower players, and he doesn’t have to create there, just pass and hit threes (which will come).
And when he’s playing with Tim and Burke, those guys can drive to the basket.
It’s not perfect, but it’s decent.

He was playable on offense, too, even though he contributed little. He had one very nice drive with an acrobatic finish. And then there was that travel. I found that to be a fascinating play. You could see him thinking on it. He’s so used to not attacking that he began to pick up his dribble right away. Then he noticed he had a good path to the basket and he attacked. A better version of himself would have attacked instinctively, but the previous version of himself wouldn’t have thought about it even late.

Ultimately all that thinking made for a clumsy turnover. But I was encouraged by it nonetheless.

Last night showed how little he has to do on offense to be a significant positive on the court.

The game thread discussion of Frank’s modest stats last night reminded me of the days when some nfl fans complained that Revis or Nnamdi Asomugha weren’t getting enough interceptions or tackles. What was happening was that they were so effective at shutting down their man that the QB just stopped throwing in that direction. You could see last night how much trouble he was giving Tatum and Heyward, and him and Mitch in tandem was a thing of beauty to behold. I’d like to see him rebounding more, and I’m encouraged by his attacking the basket a bit the last couple of games. But defensively? ChefKissesFingersDotGif
