I agree, given that comments above indicate he can play some defense. The Knicks do need a forward, and it looks like Hezonja is replacing Beasley. If that’s the case, he’s younger and has upside that Beasley probably doesn’t.

Lavar Ball is a one-man market inefficiency. This might be an opportunity to buy low on Lonzo. Somebody else will probably beat us to it though.

Why would we want Deng?

Nobody wants Deng, he’s on one of the very worst contracts in the NBA. But the Lakers will be motivated to get rid of him, because they’re in total win-now mode with LeBron, and Deng is a big ol’ black hole eating $18M of precious salary cap. They’ll have to give up an asset or two to move him. We want assets, not Deng.

Problem is we can’t just take Deng into our cap space, so we would have to hope the Lakers would have some interest in either Kanter or Hardaway for like actual basketball reasons.
