Phil was many things but a guy who’d go low ceiling like Old Man Ron Harpers with the 8th overall pick is not what I believe would have been his aim. IMO, whether right, wrong or completely misguided, he thought Frank had Pippen potential. Given the stuff about his growth and that his frame seems able and willing to take on added muscle, I think it’s very likely that was his aim. That so many on the board here so Iggy as a stylistic comparison speaks to that.

He was never brought in to become decrepit Ron Harper.

Oh, for sure, young Iguodala was a much more explosive player. I was thinking mostly of his Golden State years, where he became this secondary handler who always draws the toughest assignment 1 through 3 on defense. Iggy is 6’6″ with a 6’11” wingspan which is Frank’s size if he did grow an inch.

I can see the similarities between Frank and Iggy on defense but on the offensive side they are two completely different players.

Iggy spent his whole career exploding to the rim and dunking on everybody. I just can’t see this in Frank. Like ever.

In those videos Frank’s handle is still not good. He’s at least two years away.

That said, the shooting form still looks very good to me. And he was draining 3s in a row, no cuts to the video, so it seems legit – and matches what we heard about him before last season.

So he won’t be there as a PG yet, but I bet his TS% will be significantly higher.

I don’t think Iggy has been underpaid considering his 1st deal was under the old cap and his current deal is fair given his age.

I still like the Ron Harper comp, which I think I made a while back also. And I still think he will be a premier perimeter defender in years to come. No one will be excited to be defended by him. I think he figures out how to be adequate on offense too. We shall see. It tKes a lot of guys his age 3 years to figure things out.
