Michael Porter Jr could also refuse to workout for teams and not give them access to his medical information like Dennis Smith Jr did to avoid the triangle offense. Not just that, but there’s a lot of top shelf talent in this draft with Doncic, Ayton, Bagley, Young, Carter Jr, and Bamba that teams won’t need to convince themselves one way or another on MPJr. Then you have the “superstar role player” types in Jaren Jackson Jr and Mikal Bridges that could go ahead of Porter Jr. so you never know what could happen.

If MPJr falls out of the top five teams and ends up in the Sacto, Chicago, Cleveland, and New York range, it would be smart for him to try to force his way to New York. He’d have Trey Burke and Frank Ntilikina feeding him the ball, KP is on the back end to cover his mistakes defensively, and Fizdale is probably a more stable coaching situation than what’s going on in Sacto, Chicago, and Cleveland.

Porter Jr. is a no-brainer for me if ever drops that much, of course if there's evidence showing his injury is not a career issue.

It's the 9th pick, the odds of finding a great player are slim and even the odds of finding an eventual starter are somewhat low. If he drops to 9th it becomes even easier because it means all of Young, Carter Jr., Bamba and Bridges went before him and the next group of prospects is either a lot less exciting or would be a big reach at 9th. I would honestly be ecstatic if he's healthy and drops to us.

I hope Michael Porter Jr gets the Dennis Smith Jr treatment and slides all the way to 9 because of injury concerns. Just draft him and give him a redshirt year to work on his body while we tank and get RJ Barrett or Cam Reddish. We would revolutionize basketball with our 6’8”, 6’11”, and 7’3” pace and space front court.

Like I said, I would pick him with the 12th or even 9th in a weaker year, but I really don't think he's either the best prospect or best fit that will be available at 9. Him going top 10 would for sure be a reach.
