2017-18 Game Thread: Knicks @ Pelicans

Another road game, at least it is against a team that isn’t that good.

KP vs. The Brow!!

Let’s go, Knicks!

I’d love the Knicks to get the Pelicans’ first rounder either this year or next. So, here’s to hoping that Lee and OQ really shine tonight!

got a good (read: totally irrational) feeling on the game tonight…

not so much cuz I think the knicks will play exceptionally well, but, rather that the pelicans will find a way to lose this game…

go knicks…

Jarrett Jack is like having a coach on the court. Literally.

Early leader for comment of the game. You set the bar high PT!

can’t say frank ain’t got no style…good try on the behind the back pass – it looked a little weird because it seems he can wrap his arm around his body two or three times…

excited for when he starts really getting loose…

frankie stylz…

Ron Baker doing his classic “x minutes played, 0 points, 0 rebounds, 0 assists, 0 steals, 0 blocks” thing

of course we’ve come to learn – a double digit lead in the first half, doesn’t really mean much…

better than being down though…

rondo and cousins definitely give off a serious bad mojo kind of vibe…

imagine being stuck with them and rose on a cross country car ride…

That’s a beautiful finish by KP on the PNR. He’s not strong enough to get to the rim a lot but that six foot bank shot is probably pretty high percentage for him.

Knicks really bombing away from 3PT tonight, they have a whole four attempts

#howsitgoink

Pretty good they’re up by 14

it’s not ron’s fault he turned back from the teen wolf on his way to blocking the shit out of AD

You know this lead will evaporate muy rapido. OTOH, the Pelicans are a really dumb team so we may have a chance.

They really are shockingly stupid.

the nice thing about lance starting is that I can find myself rooting for Beasley to come in without feeling stupid

Man, if you take Davis out of this team I don’t think they win 25.

Sometimes I forget just how damn good he is.

Now we know where Noah is on the depth chart. Just behind 9 center fouls, a few minutes of Kanter guarding AD, Ramon Sessions and Ron Baker’s mangled face.

Wow we are so bad on the road, just completely fall apart when the other team goes on any kind of a run.

I’m fine with the loss, I just hate seeing Cousins win any game.

Can we just fucking tank already?

The Knicks are stinking up the 4th quarter again, but there’s also some pretty atrocious officiating going on, too.

good for noah…what a mess our roster is…what is it, like 40% of our payroll is at the center position…

“Okay guys, run that play where everyone runs around all confused and Enes shoots a three-pointer”

hahahahaha…

no, please – don’t let them do that again…

thankfully enes wasn’t in the game…

What a weird win! Noah and Jack playing in the 4th, Porzingis shooting a three and dunking instead of turnaround mid range shots, a team that’s actually dumber than we are… a lot of unexpected stuff.

Did the Pellies seriously play six guys 30 minutes or more? That seems ill-considered.

the pelicans got issues for sure…

knicks aren’t exactly without talent – just crazy inconsistent…

inconsistent and poor play aside – good group of guys to root for…

there are some teams wherein it’s different contributors each night – just not a lot of them are at the top of the standings…

encouraging play from both kp & frank…nice to see frank becoming more demonstrative on the bench…

both of those young guys seem to have an excellent competitive nature…

Some good stuff in that win. The underused Frank/KP two-man game. There was some double rolling with KP and Kanter. KP finally producing late again. Decent Noah sighting. Pretty good defense considering 2 all-stars bigs. Better 3 pt defense… Solid enough win.

Any complaints about KP’s line tonight? 30 points on 22 FGA, 7 boards, 3 assists, 2 steals, 5 fouls, and 2 blocks in 32 minutes on the road.

KP is gonna be a monster if he stops taking those shitty mid range jumpers.

One the one hand, it’s not like we need to worry about winning this season so it would be nice if he was learning some moves that would allow him to create efficiently in isolation further down the line. On the other hand, I’m worried he’s going to start falling into bad habits instead of taking 3s and dunking on people.

He’s lucky Frank wasn’t guarding him.

Seriously tho I’m happy for him. Seems like a great kid who has a bright future ahead of him.

Yeah, his interviews are also always humble, he seems to have a good head on his shoulders too. That was Lebron’s 7 straight loss in Utah.

On KP, the Knicks should really just stop featuring him as an iso scorer. Just remove iso plays with him from the playbook until he is physically capable of overpowering smaller defenders.

This will put a higher workload on the guards obviously but even with Jack and Ntilikina’s obvious issues as main ball handlers, he still produces much better when he’s involved in the offense instead of being asked to get the ball in the elbow / post areas and do something. While Jack and Frank aren’t real threats in the pick and roll, they are adequate passers off picks and at least it opens some posessions where a defensive lapse leaves KP free to roll or to get an open shot.

On the topic of insane performances, Curry just came back from injury and went supernova against the Grizzlies. 38 points in 17 shots with 2 (!) Free throws.

Frank Ntilikina keeps on getting better and better. He should be starting with KP. Their two man +/- is the best on the team.
