2014-15 Game Thread: Knicks @ Suns

The Suns are really reeling right now, so this game is not an easy loss. The Knicks are going to have to work to lose this one.

Let’s go, Knicks!

  1. While Captain Luke was busy telling everyone how dumb they were for thinking Cole might be better than Andrea Bargnani, Cole has actually played pretty well as of late. Will be interesting to see if we can retain him on the cheap, and by that I mean minimum.

    Haha. Good one.

  3. Hey, they led at the half! This was a tough game to lose – the Suns are a mess right now.

  4. Pretty much. Teams definitely have the Knicks circled on their calendar as “Oh boy!” days.

  5. By the way, the fact that MSG Sycophant #1 Marc Berman trashed Jackson today has to mean something, right?

I don’t mean that it means something about Jackson, as obviously it doesn’t mean anything like that (Berman wasn’t a credible source when he was kissing Jackson’s ass, so he doesn’t suddenly become a credible source when he’s trashing Jackson), but I think that it likely means that someone at MSG has turned on Jackson, or else Berman wouldn’t be going this route. He doesn’t trash people out of nowhere – there’s always a reason behind it. I just can’t tell what it is. Hopefully it isn’t coming from Dolan.

This team, man, this fucking team…it’s like dysfunction city…

  6. Minnesota is strapping on their tanking gear – Pek, Rubio, and Garnett all sat out last night with what sounds like minor injuries…

    3/19 and 3/20 are huge.

Though I must say – it’s sort of sad that even if we have the worst record we are more likely to get the 3rd or 4th pick (~53%) than the 1st or 2nd pick.

On the one hand, you’ve got Phil Jackson and his unbelievable luck.

On the other hand, you’ve got James Dolan and his horrible karma.

Normally, I’d bet on Phil and his luck winning out. But Phil’s luck seems to have hit an impenetrable object in Dolan. So I’ll go with worst record and #3 pick (*traded to Toronto for Kyle Lowry)

  8. With Berman, it’s hard to tell what’s going on. He spent several years talking about Marbury regularly even after he was off the team. I going to hope someone isn’t using Berman to attack Jackson. I’m going to hope Berman is just an idiot (which does seem like a reasonable conclusion).

But I think the Marbury thing ties into this, though. He spent years talking about Marbury because Marbury was his guy. They had a mutually beneficial relationship, so even when Marbury left, Berman stood up for him (it is similar to the way that Woj and Dumars have their own special arrangement). In other words, Berman kept talking about Marbury for a reason – a dumb reason, perhaps, but a reason. Everything he writes typically has a reason. In recent years, it has been clear that he’s just furthering the MSG agenda, so every move they made was a brilliant one, stuff like that. Sucking up in exchange for access (nothing different than many other basketball writers). So him turning on Jackson likely does mean something. I just don’t know what. It could just be Steve Mills or Allan Houston feeding him stuff. That’s reasonable enough (if annoying). But if it comes from on top? To sort of set the stage for the Knicks splitting with Jackson? Blech.
