  1. Let’s go Knicks! No more pesky Dunleavy on the Bucks, so the Knicks should kick the Bucks’ asses.

  2. I hope they look to get Tyson and Shump going early. A scoring Tyson is a happy Tyson and a happy Tyson plays much better D.

  3. Roger Mason staring a game for the Heat is high-larious, even if it is just because they like bringing Allen off of the bench.

  4. Amar’e Stoudemire. The x-factor this season. Even 50 games of Efficient-Stat is all I ask for.

  5. Not feeling the handling of Shump Shump. JR had a terrible summer, not sure we had to waste a roster spot on his kid brother in addition to ignoring his drug suspension, tardy knee surgery and overly lavish contract extension. Now we have to bench our budding homegrown superstar as well? Or play Iman out of position at the 3? Sheesh.

What’s wrong with Shump Shump getting 28-30 minutes a night as our starting SG?

  6. No one is saying Shump won’t continue to start when JR returns. That seems to be where Woody is heading, but it hasn’t actually happened yet.

  7. Knicks are cornering the market on dudes with apostrophes in their names. They have two, Amar’e and Toure’.

  8. Well, at least Woody got away from the idea of starting Bargs…for now. I’d rather see Shump at the 2 as well, but this isn’t a bad starting lineup.

  9. I was so going to mock Brandon Knight’s poor ballhandling until I realized he was hurt. Then I felt bad. But still, what passing! And what a dunk!

  10. The Heat are already within six against Philly. Seriously, how big of a lead would a team like Philly have to have on them for you to believe that the Heat wouldn’t ultimately win?

  11. im still trying to reconcile how excited I am to have Artest on our team and how bad I thought he was with the Lakers

  12. Is there anything more annoying than these constant, overly cheesy, self aggrandizing Lebron commercials

  13. I’m liking the full-court press of Prigs and Shump. I hope that becomes a regular thing for those two.

  14. Really liking the active hands on the defensive end, when MWP, Shump and Pablo are on the court together it’s like a three man Waring blender

  15. THJ? Is it still preseason? Whazzuh?

No JR. I imagine that he’ll be affixed to the bench when JR returns.

  16. the fact that the giannis kid is actually playing for the bucks right now means that he is way ahead of schedule. may turn out to be a great pick for milwaukee

  17. for a group of fans who are constantly complaining about lineup decisions, I think that this year will provide us with plenty to complain about

  18. for a group of fans who are constantly complaining about lineup decisions, I think that this year will provide us with plenty to complain about

Ha! I imagine that when JR returns, the rotation will be less weird. I mean, it’d have to be, right?

  19. And this is still early. The Knicks do their best work in the second half when they pull away. The Knicks are all over this. I love it when opening night is against a beatable opponent!

  20. Who started? I don’t have a feed tonite cuz my net is down and I haven’t turned cable on in the new place yet

  21. I don’t really get the platooning of STAT and K-Mart. Why not play them each 10 minutes? They’re two completely different players, shouldn’t their playing time depend upon the opponent and matchups?

  22. Who started? I don’t have a feed tonite cuz my net is down and I haven’t turned cable on in the new place yet

They went with the starting lineup from last year (two points, Shump at the 3, Melo at the 4, Chandler in the middle)

  23. I don’t really get the platooning of STAT and K-Mart. Why not play them each 10 minutes? They’re two completely different players, shouldn’t their playing time depend upon the opponent and matchups?

I have never heard of an idea as weird as the K-Mart/STAT thing. It really does sound dumb.

  24. If Mayo is the bucks first option they’re in for a long year.
The D has been sound. Ball moves well.
    Good energy.
Shump made some nice moves early.
Except for a 0-7 run when our second team was on the floor at first, pretty solid effort.
    We should win by 20.

  25. The Bucks are just confusing. All those free agent signings to, what? Maybe compete for the 8th seed? So stupid.

  26. The problem with the Bargs thing is that you know that the booing would get to him, so the crowd better not do it.

  27. When Brandon Knight is not in there, this Bucks’ team has one of the lowest basketball IQ I have seen in a while.

  28. I like the fact that Tyson worked on his shot this offseason, but why did it take until his 10th summer to work on shooting???

  29. The Knicks defense looks pretty good, but this Bucks team does not have much of a game plan, nor do they have a competent point guard.

  30. I am pretty sure that Tyson jump shot will be discussed ad nauseam the next two days…

    I love Prigioni….

  31. It does remain to be seen how much of this is good D by the Knicks or just bad offense by the Bucks. But hey, if we’re gonna have a season opener, it may as well go like this.

  32. Right now, the Bucks remind me of what happens to a pride of hyenas if the matriarch is removed. Just total disarray without Brandon Knight.

  33. since I haven’t figured out how to quote with this new format, I’ll just say that ephus’s anlogy was by far the strangest of this young season

  34. Melo should have gone under the basket and stuffed from the reverse side.
The basket would have set him a screen

  35. Right now, the Bucks remind me of what happens to a pride of hyenas if the matriarch is removed. Just total disarray without Brandon Knight.

As maxwell noted, that was an amazingly accurate analogy, ephus. Well done.

  36. In a tough division, Knicks need to feast on the weak, like a pack of hyenas picking off a sickly water buffalo.
    Amirite!!!

  37. Right now, the Bucks remind me of what happens to a pride of hyenas if the matriarch is removed. Just total disarray without Brandon Knight.

    Knight for league MVP?

  38. Missing matriachal hyenas or no, the D be swarming. Lots of substitutions, fresh legs, swarming D. I like it.

  39. This would be a great night if the Knicks could blow out the Bucks and the perfectly constructed Nets could lose to the Cavs.

  40. Coast to coast by Shumpert. Two years ago, he would have gotten a T by going back at Butler. Butler deserves a Flagrant 1 for that.

  41. I swore I would avoid looking at the scores while I was at work so I could watch the game on league pass when I got home, but the temptation of proper, actually counts, Knicks basketball was far too tempting. Really keen to see this defence everyone is talking about.

  42. Shump playing with a lot of confidence.
Sometime in the near future this may become Shump-STRONG’s team.

  43. can JR please just stay on the bench. he is good there. shump is good starting. was is the problem??

  44. Chandler is looking like his old self on the defensive end, moving real well out there. Bucks have four points in the paint.

  45. Butler deserved the Flagrant 1 because he took Shumpert to the ground by wrapping the neck. He did not make a play on the ball in trying to stop the layup.

  46. In a tough division, Knicks need to feast on the weak, like a pack of hyenas picking off a sickly water buffalo.

Exactly. Screw the Bucks. Blow ’em out, Knicks!

  47. Crowd surprisingly out of it. The Knicks are having fun out there. I’d think there’d be a bit o havoc.

  48. Chandler is looking like his old self on the defensive end, moving real well out there. Bucks have four points in the paint.

    Yep
Wanted to try the block quote

  49. is it possible that having udrich will allow felton to play less minutes, but give more effort on D? that would be awesome

  50. So many weapons.
    And some tough D.
Don’t care that the Bucks are weak. They’re crushing the Bucks.

  51. I love this from Shumpert.

Al T: Was it a big deal for you to start?

Shumpert (puzzled): For me to start ? . . Nah. I just wanna win.

When Shumpert says it, I belie bit.

  52. Heat 45 to Philly 34 in the 3rd.

Not sure if anyone is watching, but that looks like a ridiculous game. Mostly because it looks like Philly have been competitive. We’ll also just ignore the 15 hour turnaround for Miami and the no D-wade.

  53. 94. jk47
Chandler is looking like his old self on the defensive end, moving real well out there. Bucks have four points in the paint.

That’s the best thing I saw in the first half. I’d almost forgotten how well he could move. That thing he did where he threw the ball toward the hoop from 17 feet away and it went in was very weird though. Some kind of spooky pre-Halloween poltergeist thing I assume.

  54. The nets do not look good at all, at least not yet. I cannot comprehend how all these anylist believe they are a better team then the knicks.

  55. If the bench gets used liberally during the season this defensive energy just might last through the spring.

  56. It’s hard to measure the team thus far because the Bucks look sooooo shitty.

They could really challenge for a top-3 pick next year.

  57. They play defense like this all season and I might be able to stomach 15 minutes of shitty basketball from Bargnani per night

  58. Sanders is a stupid player

Besides Brandon Knight, is there a smart player on the Bucks?

  59. I just want to stop and reflect on how enjoyable this is.
We don’t have a team that’s “gelling” like the Buck, we have continuity, good role players on a deep bench, and hopefully, a coach that will learn from his mistakes.
Whatever happens this year, I’m happy to live/die with this team.

    GO KNICKS!!!

  60. I wanna see a cut-throat attitude from the Knicks tonight. I feel kinda bad for the Bucks, but I want to see the Knicks step on their throats and crush them. No mercy, no let-up.

  61. Son of Wood bringing back the goatee is the best development of the night

His goatee reminds me of the GI Joe dolls from the 70s.

  62. 110. ess-dog It’s hard to measure the team thus far because the Bucks look sooooo shitty.

True, but at least the Knicks are helping them look shitty. Maimi made the 76’s look good for most of their game. The Clippers made the Lakers bench look good. etc.

  63. Heinrich is a smart player, but he is scratched with back spasms.

Oh duh. Yeah, he is, too. So they’re missing both of their point guards, who are also their only high basketball IQ guys. A recipe for…well, exactly what we’ve seen so far.

But seriously, eff ’em. The Knicks have had injuries, too. Sweep the leg, Knicks!

  64. Oh, by the way, the best part about this game is that I don’t have to watch the Red Sox win the World Series.

  65. But seriously, eff ‘em. The Knicks have had injuries, too. Sweep the leg, Knicks!

    You jinxed ’em.

  66. I don’t care if the Knicks are up by 60 with 2 min left, I don’t want to ever see Chris Smith on the floor in a game.

  67. Early returns on Bargs not positive.

This is actually exactly as badly as I imagined him playing.

  68. I hate the bargs 3, but at least it is better than the melo dribble out the clock and chuck at the end of quarters

  69. Not worried about Bargs misses, they’ll go in eventually. More worried about the turnovers, and sometimes he looks lost out there.

  70. Completely apart from efficiency or value or whatever; from a pure viewing pleasure perspective, Bargnani is showing early signs of being a truly unpleasant player. I hope he develops something that looks like a spine and an alert expression at some point.

  71. The Cavs are good. Not great. But good. And tough at home.

Check out Michael Carter-Williams’ line tonight.

I had never heard of him. Just insane

  72. I’m new to this Knicks lineup. When did we trade for Foghorn Leghorn….and why is he playing?

  73. this shit happens all the time with Woodson and this team. remember last year the 30 point lead on the Grizzlies at home? which all but evaporated in the second half……what is the deal why cant this team close out the game after working so hard to build a 25 point halftime lead?????

  74. I think this was my first comment when I heard about the trade. He is unwatchable. Especially compared to discount double check.

Completely apart from efficiency or value or whatever; from a pure viewing pleasure perspective, Bargnani is showing early signs of being a truly unpleasant player. I hope he develops something that looks like a spine and an alert expression at some point.

  75. is there a more punchable person than the pissed off woodson with his arms crossed just staring into space

  76. Check out Michael Carter-Williams’ line tonight.

I had never heard of him. Just insane

Yeah I watched him during his college career and was not expecting that at all.

  77. does anyone else get the sense that shump thinks he is a little more talented than others view him, and that melo resents the fact that shump doesn’t defer to him? I just saw a glimpse of that on that last possession

  78. Mike Breen talking about Melo “He’s only taken 10 shots”….as if that’s not a lot. On this team Melo should take 15 shots max….but have at least 5 assists, 6-7 rebs…but no he’ll play hero ball and try to win this one by himself

  79. I will say, watching Zaza play, it makes you think twice about the 11 million we are paying Bargs…

  80. This is where Amar’e should get 5 minutes of burn. Instead the small-ball will kill us here down the stretch

  81. how does chandler not contest that mayo layup???? yeah, he has a few blocks, but they are basically on wobbly duck shots throw up from an off balance point guards hip. how about actually protecting the rim Mr. DPOY???

  82. Whenever Felton shoots a jumper directly after a screen I cringe… even though it works out sometimes.

  83. the bucks have been playing zone during this ridiculous comeback. Dont tell me Woodson hasn’t implemented an offense for zone D….you would think the answer is yes but with this team who knows

  84. and while im complaining about chandler, can he just catch some of these offensive rebounds??? he bats at some that he could clearly just haul in

  85. but still there is no excuse for him not to have 10 REBS a game minimun…hell he had 28 in a single game last year

  86. If the NBA keeps the “point of emphasis” on traveling on the standstill catch, Kevin Durant will be much less dangerous.

  87. Trying to follow the game via the ESPN boxscore. we were up 1….now we’re up 5….what did Bargnani do!!!!!

  88. Well, this’ll give the pundits something to whine about tomorrow. My biggest problem with blowing the lead is not being able to rest the starters for tomorrows Bulls game.

  89. Shump hurt something, I saw him waving to the bench to be taken out. Hope it’s nothing serious.

  90. Shump hurt something, I saw him waving to the bench to be taken out. Hope it’s nothing serious.

Crap…and I was just feeling good about not having to call in sick tomorrow had we lost this game.

  91. Terrible performance by Bargnani, but I hope they keep playing him.

Melo was terrible most of the night.

    Prigioni made some uncharacteristic plays.

Shump had some shining moments, the guy can definitely be a 2-way star.

MWP needs to be in at the end of games.

  92. Dwight Howard has 26 Rebounds…you’re telling me Tyson is only capable of 6?

He’s capable of more than 6. Just like Melo is capable of 50 points, Felton 15 assists, Bargnani 35 points, Metta 15 headbutts. Not everything can be done dude! Did you actually see an instance where Tyson should’ve gotten the rebound and he didn’t or just basing it on the number?

  93. Udrih managed to be every bit as bad as Bargnani tonight. I have a feeling he’s going to be the second most exasperating player on the team this year.

  94. Expect a big rebounding night for Tyson when we play the Cats….

Anyway, Tyson had a great game box score stats notwithstanding. Thanks to Melo’s Kobe assists of course….

  95. Udrih was confusing. He was able to crossover any Buck who tried to defend him. He did less with a clear path to the rim than any player I recall. He appears to be a sieve in D. And there were lots of turnovers on simple passes. Don’t know what to think yet.

  96. Seems like the Bucks are a bunch of professional shooters. If you d them up, they look easy to beat, but they can beat anyone if you give them any space and let them hang around. We suffocated them on the last few possessions, and would have put them away earlier if not for that Chandler-Pablo mishap.

  97. Z-Man

Terrible performance by Bargnani, but I hope they keep playing him.

Melo was terrible most of the night.

    Prigioni made some uncharacteristic plays.

Shump had some shining moments, the guy can definitely be a 2-way star.

MWP needs to be in at the end of games.

Huh……..Shump had shining moments and melo was terrible? uh ok buddy. Melo was good in the first half. Bad(Just like everyone except tyson ) In the second half. He was a beast on those last two baskets. The Knicks have been terrible for a few years now when playing with big leads, i just dont get it

  98. Wow, that would have been a deflating loss. I’d be very surprised if we win tomorrow, so this one was pretty big for a season opener.

  99. “Huh……..Shump had shining moments and melo was terrible? uh ok buddy. Melo was good in the first half. Bad(Just like everyone except tyson ) In the second half. He was a beast on those last two baskets. The Knicks have been terrible for a few years now when playing with big leads, i just dont get it”

Hence the qualifier “most of the night.” I’ll try to use simpler language for you.

  100. What was the point of the Pacers signing Copeland again??
They said so they dont have to face him. I saw it somewhere lol

  101. “half the game is most of the night cool thanks”

If you truly think that Melo played well for half the game, you were watching a different game than I was. He had 19 points on 16 shots against a terrible team, and had 3 turnovers and a technical. At the end of the game, he had a very fortunate tip-in, a brick lay-up that Tyson followed, a brick 3-pointer (0-2 from 3) and a jump-hook that hovered on the back rim and rolled in. He rebounded well all game, but beyond that he was generally awful.

Iman just confirmed that it was cramps in his calves.

  102. In fairness Melo got drilled on the head on his missed fastbreak layup that Chandler dunked in. I think er is more sensitive when it comes to Melo than ruru is lol. I only saw the last 10 mins of the game so nobody played well to me but a win is a win so Ill gladly take it. Up 25 at the half is what I will focus on more than the 2nd half :-)

  103. In fairness Melo got drilled on the head on his missed fastbreak layup that Chandler dunked in. I think er is more sensitive when it comes to Melo than ruru is lol. Honestly i dont even like Melo like that. I just find it annoying when ppl complain about him all the time

  104. But er you know by now that I am not a melo hashed. He didn’t have a good game is all I’m saying.
