  1. Amar’e with great match-up 2 night against porous PnR defense and slow-footed defenders inside.

    30+ pts.

  2. Lin’s alley-oop to Fields was incredible. That’s the kind of play that will make this team dominant offensively.

  3. Smartest play by bill walker this season or smartest play by bill walker EVER? (I realize the bar is pretty low on this)

  4. Nick C.:
Unexpected stat considering his reputation, Cousins leads the NBA in charges drawn.

This is due to the Kings coaching staff’s system of giving players a sticker for every charge they draw in games and practice.

I’m not making that up. They’re one of the best teams at drawing charges.

  5. Who will be more swiss cheese D tonight, Amare or Cousins? Both will probably go for like 40 points like it were NBA Jam.

  6. Mulligan:

I was surprised by that too. Linsanity must be catching.

  7. Sorry to say this but if you don’t think Melo can fit into this offense you’re a damn fool.

  8. Amar’e needs to knock that hero-ball shit off. Seriously. That’s a bad shot or a turnover two-thirds of the time. Fuck. Against the Kings it’s not so bad, but against playoff teams, that’s a wasted possession.

  9. TheXman:
Who will be more swiss cheese D tonight, Amare or Cousins? Both will probably go for like 40 points like it were NBA Jam.

    Um, Chandler is guarding Cousins

  10. DRed: I still don’t believe any of this is really happening.

What was your reaction when Felton was doing this (sans the volume and efficient scoring)?

It took quite a few games to get it rolling last year.

    Lin’s going to be a 10 assist guy .

  11. TheXman: No more iso plays Amare, everytime u dribble down it’s a disaster

Not every single play up the floor is going to be a great pick and roll creating a wide open shot or dunk.

That Amar’e “iso” came after two pick and rolls.

  12. dogrufus: If there was a player named, say, Adolph Hitler, they’d probably boo him too

One of these men waged an ill-advised, expensive, costly campaign (predicated on anti-intellectual ideals and ideologies) that left an entire people in disbelief and a long rebuilding to follow. The other is… well, you guess.

  13. Is league pass broadband out for anyone else? I’m getting a black screen with terrible generic music.

  14. rururuland2: Not every single play up the floor is going to be a great pick and roll creating a wide open shot or dunk.

That Amar’e “iso” came after two pick and rolls.

They didn’t even try for a pick and roll. Why simply assume that not all possessions can result in a high percentage shot?

  15. The Honorable Cock Jowles: They didn’t even try for a pick and roll. Why simply assume that not all possessions can result in a high percentage shot?

because things happen in real-time and players are not robots. Oh yeah, there’s a defense playing too.

  16. This is why we need Melo back. Without Lin on the court there’s nobody on the team who can even run our offense in a mediocre fashion.

  17. rururuland2: because things happen in real-time and players are not robots. Oh yeah, there’s a defense playing too.

That argument makes no sense. Are you saying that Amar’e HAD to stand a step inside the 3-point line, almost travel, make a shitty move, and flail toward the basket? Or do you think they could have passed the ball around with 12 seconds left?

  18. Spree8nyk8:
Don’t worry guys, I watched Empire Strikes Back, so we are good to go for today!

Sometimes you post things that have absolutely nothing to do with the Knicks, and it makes me uncomfortable. Please clarify.

  19. Yes, and I am wondering if d’antoni’s plan will be to keep melo in to end 1st quarter possibly while lin and stat sit to have an offensive weapon out there (then melo sits to start 2nd)….he can do his iso thing for a few minutes while the others rest…then when they are back on the court he (hopefully) reverts to moving the ball, finding the open man.

  20. Sometimes you post things that have absolutely nothing to do with the Knicks, and it makes me uncomfortable. Please clarify.

He’s been watching Empire every game during the win streak. He’s dedicated in his devotion to making the Knicks win!

  21. The Honorable Cock Jowles: That argument makes no sense. Are you saying that Amar’e HAD to stand a step inside the 3-point line, almost travel, make a shitty move, and flail toward the basket? Or do you think they could have passed the ball around with 12 seconds left?

I’d have to look at the possession again. It was probably a bad decision. Those occur occasionaly on every great offensive team.

  22. Jerome Jordan can’t get off the bench when Chandler comes out? Has D’antoni not learned his lesson?

  23. Jeremy Lin one on one interview on msg this friday at 11. We need a kblogger transcript to render it into scripture….

  24. Walker was hustling everyone with his poor play during the streak. He decided he needed to turn it on against…the kings

  25. Jeffries forces the TO on jimmerrrr, then help D to force another TO in the paint. Also get an offensive rebound prior. Jeffrightened!

  26. Mulligan:
Serious effort coming from everybody. Morale must be at its highest in a decade.

Was this before or after “Lin” forgot to box out Thornton, while Amar’e looked on?

  27. I like Chuckie Hayes. It’s tough to get a long career as a 6’6″ Center. Reminds me of Malik Rose.

  28. If Balkman’s dreads are out, but he doesn’t get into the game, did it really happen? I say no.

  29. novakaine with a 4 point opportunity wow fields is playing like a pg now smh whats this team going through

next well see amare have pg skills lol

  30. Indiana is down by 20 to cleveland….I think they may be poised for a steep drop….this would be their 5th straight loss…could be one of those teams we can surpass to make at least 6th seed and avoid chi/miami in first round.

  31. The Honorable Cock Jowles:
Remind me again why we need Amar’e with Chandler out there.

You guys are just brutal on Amare. He’s having a solid game and had one dumb TO. And for the record, he’s not playing bad D either.
Cut the guy a little slack.

  32. Anthony said Lin has given the Knicks exactly what they’ve always needed: a competent point guard.

“Jeremy Lin was a blessing in disguise for us,” Anthony said. “He fell down from upstairs for us in the situation that we’ve been looking for a guy to take over that position. But it’s going to take a lot of work, but I’m willing to do it, and we’ve all got to be willing to do it.

What the fuck does that mean?

  33. the only way Jeromy Lin could be any cooler would be if he begins his post-game interview by saying “shump shump”

  34. DRed:

Don’t try to parse Melo’s interviews. They’re like the Dead Sea Scrolls

  35. Well, that was as fun as a half gets. I’m going to be very upset if the human victory blunt doesn’t get some time tonight.

  36. Can we come up with a better chant besides MVP to show players some love? I feel like Stat Melo and Lin have received it at different times. Kind of diminishes its meaning…

  37. Brian Cronin: He’s been watching Empire every game during the win streak. He’s dedicated in his devotion to making the Knicks win!

I work nights, so I have a hard time sleeping sometimes in the morning, so I put on a movie that I have seen many times so that I don’t really pay attention to it and I fall asleep. The day of the NJ game I put on Empire Strikes Back. And I’m so superstitious that I’ve ended up putting it on everyday since then. And everygame since then has reinforced the need to keep the regiment until the streak ends. I know deep down it’s silly. But I still gotta do it.

  38. Robert Silverman: Don’t try to parse Melo’s interviews. They’re like the Dead Sea Scrolls

I think he was attempting a metaphor about Lin being a blessing from above, as Lin has sort of alluded to himself.

  39. LIN could get 20 assists, but hopefully he just sits out most of the 4th as the knicks stretch the lead

  40. @89 LOL. I would die if that happened.

Good to see the Knicks continue to roll (for a half at least). On that last Chandler dunk to end the half, did anyone else see Amare start to reach for Lin’s pass? He wanted that dunk!

And Mike Tyson just swore on air — where the 5-second delay on MSG?

  41. rururuland2: I think he was attempting a metaphor about Lin being a blessing from above, as Lin has sort of alluded to himself.

I think maybe Lin was sleeping in the area above the ceiling of the garden, kind of like the phantom of the opera.

  42. the only thing that sux is that lin will probably b on the bench. even though he needs rest, im just caught in linsanity.

i would try fields at the point and iman shumpert while hes out. just have shump bring it up and let fields set it up just saying, it would be great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  43. Mulligan:
Can we come up with a better chant besides MVP to show players some love? I feel like Stat Melo and Lin have received it at different times. Kind of diminishes its meaning…

    how about L-I-N

  44. While I’d like to have Lin rest, Kings have firepower to come back. So let’s just get a strong 3rd quarter then grind out the 4th. LINSATIONAL!

  45. Brian Cronin:
What I don’t get is, we know Shump is not a point. However, when Lin is not out there, wouldn’t you still prefer Shump to Bibby?

I’d prefer Toney Douglas to Bibby, but hopefully he’s sitting because his shoulder is still bothering him or something.

  46. rururuland2: I think he was attempting a metaphor about Lin being a blessing from above, as Lin has sort of alluded to himself.

It was a weird interview but it’s kind of an odd situation. What if Melo hadn’t gone down with the groin injury? Linsanity would’ve been just as likely to happen with Melo as it was with Walker. The combo of Lin blowing up during Melo’s absence causes people to read into that coincidence.

  47. Tyler Murray:
And Mike Tyson just swore on air — where the 5-second delay on MSG?

Hahaha, if you’re not paying attention during Tyson, you need to be replaced!

  48. Man, Landry, I am sorry I doubted you at all…..

It is amazing the difference in his play when Melo is off the court…

  49. wow even walkers getting into this. so far really the only person looking lost is amare in this game

  50. Owen: Man, Landry, I am sorry I doubted you at all…..It is amazing the difference in his play when Melo is off the court…

LMAO… Lin was playing great with Melo.

  51. This, my friends, looks like a real D’Antoni system, only with much better defense. It’s great to see the Knicks pound the teams we all expect them to beat.

  52. big, big difference in defensive effort from the Raptors last night to the Kings tonight… the Kings are an absolute mess, they don’t even try to stop anybody lol.

that’s awesome for us, a chance to rest Lin, Chandler and Amare… we should give TD some run, he can’t possibly mess this game.

  53. Man it’s soooooo weird to go from watching a Toney Douglas-led team to watching this Lin-led team. Every pass was so excruciatingly hard before and now – a thing of beauty. It’s like the team had a heart transplant.

  54. Owen:
Man, Landry, I am sorry I doubted you at all…..

It is amazing the difference in his play when Melo is off the court…

Yeah, Melo put the hex on all those open shots Fields was missing

  55. That might have been the best defensive sequence I have seen in the last decade right there, 7.05….

  56. Owen:
Man, Landry, I am sorry I doubted you at all…..

It is amazing the difference in his play when Melo is off the court…

I don’t think it had to do with Melo as much as it was not having a real playmaker on the team, and the terrible, ISO offense we were going to earlier in the season. I think he’ll still play well when Melo comes back. Hell, even Melo will play better if he buys into this offense.

  57. Melo will def play better with a good PG like lin….he will NOT shoot 40% all year (career low)

  58. Halfway through the 3rd, and the Kings have yet to score 50 points, and Lin gets his 2nd double-double. Gotta love it.

  59. the broadcaster said the crowd is tired from screaming so much lol…………………… no they are just not used to it lol

  60. Fields last 10 games with Melo and no Lin:

    4/9
    7/10
    7/10
    5/7
    6/12
    8/14
    4/7
    6/12
    2/3

Fields w/no Melo and no Lin:

    4/12
    0/2

Fields with Lin and no Melo:

    3/7
    6/11
    1/7
    8/10
    3/9

  61. Oof, Jeremy Lin, turnover machine…..

I think this may be his achilles heel, low turnover rate or not…

    Genuinely careless….

  62. MDA is an idiot doesn’t he see that Lin is tired. nope hes to bz complaining about a call smh

  63. Owen: Oof, Jeremy Lin, turnover machine…..I think this may be his achilles heel, low turnover rate or not…Genuinely careless….

    Careless?

  64. Owen:
    Oof, Jeremy Lin, turnover machine…..

I think this may be his achilles heel, low turnover rate or not…

    Genuinely careless….

no hes tired and doesnt have the umph to make the plays and stay consitent

  65. The fact that Breen and Clyde Frazier don’t understand how Melo is going to fit into the offense sort of sets the stage for all the Melo flaming.

  66. Knicks4Eva:
Give TD some run, maybe he can get some confidence back.

If he doesn’t play tonight, I think it is safe to assume he is hurt.

  67. Guess the 20 and 7 streak ends tonite, he could have had the knicks record tonite but it’s all good, still a great performance, although I’m sure espn will only talk about the turnovers again like they did today.

  68. If Chandler scores one more, every non-zombie Knick who saw time will be in double figures. Talk about a team effort.

  69. I’m rooting for _________. I’d love to see him build some confidence. There will come a day when we need him again. And he used to be, you know, pretty good once in a while.

  70. Celtics down by 6 to the Pistons in the 4th quarter, Indy getting blown out by Cavs, Hawks down 10 to the Suns. This could be a perfect evening.

  71. God, I love my knicks. I’m in heaven these days. Watching this game with my boy dave from NYC down here in New Orleans. We are going to watch the game on friday vs. the hornets at sports bar down here, then head to the quarter for mardi gra. I’m going to have on my starks jersey, dave has the STAT jersey. Hopefully we don’t get lynched. By the way shout out to my homegirl Dani Drake, who I just introduced to knickerblogger. She’s a super fan.

  72. My brother keeps texting me Lin’s turnover numbers. I just respond:

“7 straight wins. You must be adopted.”

  73. DRed: You ready to admit that Landry might be a decent player yet, Jon?

I’d still rather have him coming off the bench, but he seems to have made a love connection with Lin.

  74. we’re finally blowing someone out!!! maybe coach will let jordan and lin play! oh…..wait a sec!

  75. The Garden crowd is trying to redeem itself with all the Isiah Thomas booing. Still gotta stop with the MVP chants during free throws though. For the home team, silence is golden.

  76. ok and it continues witha blooooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwouuuuuutttttttttt even with garbage time lol

  77. They needed that especially Lin only having to play 27 minutes. I have to confess the games are more enjoyable when the connection on the phone doesn’t fritz out for most of the game.

  78. celtics about to lose at home to detroit….I think we may quickly vault up the standings if we keep this up!

  79. they should be chanting L-I-N not MVP, hes much more special than an MVP. he is LIN what all of the people in the world aspire to be.

He’s living the American dream. A no name making it out of nowhere. an Albert Einstein, Facebook maker, a bill gates, he is the blue collar worker that gets the new idea and makes a difference and money to boot.

    I’m proud of you Lin.
The world loves you for who you are and what you have been so far.

  80. LinkedIn must really be wishing they waited nine extra months to go public, their stock symbol could be LIN instead of LNKD. :)

  81. 1st post ever!! Yay.
Heres my scoop on things: (pts, reb, ast)
Melo scores 35 12 6 on his comeback, which I think will be on Sunday, not Friday to give extra rest. Lin puts up 13 20 10 for his 1st triple doub on national tv. Everyone goes nuts, Knicks start to make a playoff push. Very feasable that they go into the March at 19-17, or 21-15. The game vs the Heat pushed to ESPN at 8 pm because ESPN gets jealous of ratings for Linsanity. I’m going to the game Mon, so this Linning shit better last!

  82. well the pacers lost Boston lost and New Orleans is beating the bucks great night for the knicks

  83. Antwan:

    welcome

  84. Frank O.: Doesn’t feel like .500. Feels like we should be in the elite.

agreed no as a matter of fact we are elite cause you can spell elite without lin. i think we are enlightened :D

  85. Spree8nyk8:
Well guess I’ll be watching Empire again in the morning :)

you sure are and don’t you stop you hear me go spree and the empire strikes back philosophy

  86. Kevin Durant just missed 4 consecutive shots with under 20 seconds left, down 1.

He got 3 opportunities to win the game on the last possession after offensive rebounds.

  87. Denver is getting taken to the woodshed by Dallas tonight. This game Sunday is going to be a big test.

  88. Faried looking like bust right now. Doesn’t use his body like Blair. Not quite athletic to make up for it.

  89. I think Lin proves that the “teams need time to gel” theory is a load of crap. You can either play, or you can’t. I do agree that chemistry with your teammates helps things out, like those lobs to Fields and where both Amar’e and Tyson are effective as P&R dive men. But, Lin proves that piss-poor play isn’t because of “needing time to gel.”

  90. Frank: Denver is getting taken to the woodshed by Dallas tonight. This game Sunday is going to be a big test.

according to espn the nugs havent put in gallo, mozgov or nene

  91. First Post! Sucks living in NY and not being able to watch this team. I’ve been relying on everyones posts to keep me updated on how everyone is playing. This team is so exciting right now. Waiting for Melos return. Anxious to see how that will play out.

  92. massive:

no, he proves teams need a PG unless they have an elite player like LeBron/Wade/Jordan on the perimeter. we were playing without any of maybe the 50-60 best PGs in the league, not a recipe for success.

    C’mon.

It’s all about congruency between schemes and skill-sets.

Sometimes incongruent pieces can adapt their games over time. Sometimes they can balance each other’s skills sets without really fitting together.

The Knicks play a scheme that is perhaps more reliant on pg play than any other in basketball. The roster is in many ways built to accomodate the pg, expect for before Lin, there wasn’t an NBA point guard capable of running the offense.

Now that you have a pg whose skills are perfectly matched for the kind of offense MDA runs, some of the other pieces are coming together.

  94. jon abbey: no, he proves teams need a PG unless they have an elite player like LeBron/Wade/Jordan on the perimeter. we were playing without any of maybe the 50-60 best PGs in the league, not a recipe for success.

    This.

  95. I’m not worried that Melo will fit with Lin on the offensive end. Worried what kind of defense presence STAT and Melo
