NBA.com: Derrick Rose fined by Knicks for missing game vs. Pelicans

NBA.com reports:

Last night, the Knicks hosted the New Orleans Pelicans with hopes of reversing a recent funk in which New York had lost seven of its last eight games. Not only did the Knicks fall last night to the Pelicans, 110-96, but they did so without starting point guard Derrick Rose.

Rose was absent from the team for the game for reasons that were unclear, and the team responded today by fining him for his actions.

The Knicks followed by noting that he will be in uniform for the game against Philadelphia on Wednesday.

If there’s a bigger joke of a franchise, then, well, okay, it’s probably Sacramento, but still, this is a pathetic display by the Knicks to not suspend Derrick Rose for even a single game. It sends a wonderful message, “You can do whatever you want, so long as we’re so bad at guard that we can’t afford not to have you when we’re trying to win games here.”
