Sessions had a good night but he committed five turnovers also. I don't know, to me Bogut was the most effective Buck with Redd a close second....

Knicks grand tradition of turning scrubs into stars continued last night with the great Ramon Sessions, Luke Ridnour's BACKUP!

How does Stephon Marbury have so many fans? It’s incredible to me.

Owen,
I'm not a fan of Stephon Marbury. I am a fan of the best players (even given the quirks of a particular coach's system) play, and of player minutes being earned and based on the situation in a particular game. I think that, in line with the statements made by D'Antoni and Walsh, steph has earned significant playing time and that he would help the team right now far mor than he would hurt them. As to the future, I don't see any compelling reason why playing the preseason version of Steph the same way he was utilized during preseason. It seemed that there was balance then between the present reality and the future vision.

Now as we watch Duhon getting outplayed by opposing PGs, I don't understand the big commitment to him. Has his stats thus far justified such an expanded role? He's not exactly a rookie and had ample opportunity to show his wares in Chicago (avgd 20-30 minutes a year for 4 years.)

Jon,

I didn't really feel the need to say this, but I watched the game (missed the first 5 minutes or so). I never said anything about who carried the team (Redd had all of 2 reb and 1 assist). I said who really "killed [the Knicks] scoring wise," meaning who scored very efficiently against the Knicks. The Knicks held your big 3 and Milwaukee as a team to under 1 point per possession and under 50% TS%, the loss is on the Knicks offense. (They would have won the game if their defense was better, obviously, but they're not a good defensive team so that's why I put the loss on their O on a night when either they played good D or the other team's offense sucked almost as much as their own).

"Redd was a non-factor for most of the game, no matter what the box score says."

You watched the game? I did too, and I disagree with you on this.

Redd was big in the third quarter. The Knicks were mounting a rally and he hit two free throws, a three, and had a nice assist to Bogut.

Honestly, I don't think you can really say a guy who went 3-3 from three 4-8 from the field, and 5-5 from the line had no impact. That really doesn't make any sense.

Jon,
It doesn’t matter when Redd’s points came, he scored 16 points on 8 shots and 5 FTs. Bogut scored 13 points on 11 shots and 5 FTs, Sessions scored 18 points on 17 shots and 4 FTs, and Chuck scored 16 points on 17 shots and 0 Fts. Using a lot of possessions and not scoring many many points on them is not carrying the scoring load.

I genuinely respect the perspective you bring to this site, but this proves why stats are no substitute for watching the game. for one thing, some of Bogut's and Villanueva's extra shots came from crashing/dominating the inside, Bogut would get doubled, miss, Villanueva would put it in. Redd was a non-factor for most of the game, no matter what the box score days.
