I was 9 years old during that playoff run. It was amazing. Those chants of dee-fense in the fourth quarter seemed to always lead to the opponent falling apart. My Dad and I would watch knowing they'd pull it out. Little did I know that would be the last time I would see my Knicks as champs!

I think it's more than possible I think it's likely. This whole situation reminds me more and more of the 1999 season everyday. Everything is unfolding in similar fashion to what it did that year. And while yes, Boston had an exceptional run last year after not having an exceptional regular season I think that tends to be the exception and not the rule. Just because they did it once doesn't mean that it's the way it is. Every teams run comes to an end and someone is going to put an end to that franchises run. And I think it's going to be us.

It's time for hope to spawn into belief.

It's such a wild card. The Celtics are getting old. If one of their big three is hurt, or playing diminished, there is a chance. There have been games with a semi-absent Allen or Garnett. Then again, who knows what version of the Knicks will show up either.

The PG battle will also be fun to watch. Rondo has made so many people pay for passing him over in the draft. But he also thrives when not pressured, and Chauncey is a wily old man.

It's always possible.

I´ve compiled a list of the Celtics playoff series during the KG-Pierce-Allen era (2008-2010) and as you will see, in 10 playoff series the Celtics have only played ONE series that did not last 6 games. Four series went 6 games and five lasted the full 7 games, three of which Boston won. Just more reason to believe the Knicks-Celts series this year will likely be a long one.

2008:
First Round - as #1 seed Beat #8 seed Hawks 4-3
Semifinals - as #1 seed Beat #4 seed Cavs 4-3
Conf. Finals - as #1 seed Beat #2 seed Pistons 4-2
Finals - as #1 seed Beat #1 seed Lakers 4-2

2009:
First Round- as #2 seed Beat #7 seed Chicago 4-3
Semifinals - as #2 seed Lost to #3 seed 3-4

2010:
First Round - as #4 seed Beat #5 seed Miami 4-1
Semifinals - as #4 seed Beat #1 seed Cleveland 4-2
Conf. Finals - as #4 seed Beat #2 seed Orlando 4-2
Finals - as #4 seed Lost to #1 seed Lakers 3-4

Count Zero,

It's not crazy. We can win this series. We can also lose this series. And you are right - STAT, Melo & Billups aren't scared of the Celtics, and I hope that robs off on the rest of the team. Melo probably feels he's better than Pierce, STAT same with KG, and Billups is used to killing giants (Lakers with 4 future Hall-of-famers).

I do think it will go at least 6-7 games. As a matter of fact, others in the media and NBA are starting to believe what we believe. Bruce Bowen (I know, who?) thinks were going to the ECF. Check out what Thibodeau said:

http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/213020/Thibodeau_Calls_Knicks_Dangerous_Team_Against_Celtics

"They're playing at a very high level, and they've got three stars. So at the end of the game, if it's close, they'll be able to get a very high-percentage shot."

"They've come a long way. Their defense is vastly improved," said Thibodeau. "They're very unselfish. They play smart. They're going to be a dangerous team."

Thibs thinks our defense is vastly improved? That says it all right there. Knicks in 6.

Is it crazy to believe we can win this series?

The Celtics suddenly look old and tired to me. I know they looked that way late last season too, but I think it's real this time. If we can make a game of it in Game 1, I think our confidence will build throughout the series. I don't think STAT, 'Melo and Billups are the least bit intimidated by the Celtics.

Feels like it will be a war -- lots of fist-pumping, trash-talking and in-your-kitchen emphatic throwdowns. Tonight's game will be a complete subterfuge by both teams. Knicks in 6 when it matters.
