If only I had an insider pass, any choice quotes from Hollinger?

It's basically nothing you haven't heard already if you've been following Knickerblogger's comments section.

Here's a snippet...

Now New York is left with a stripped-down roster that has two stars, a point guard aging before our eyes, and not a whole lot else. And although Anthony is good enough that having him and Billups is still slightly better than having Felton, Gallinari, Chandler and Timofey Mozgov, the opportunity cost of this acquisition was enormous -- the Knicks basically can't make any other moves involving a first-round pick for the next half-decade, and have no other young assets to put into deals for any other players. They recklessly committed all their assets to a deal that only marginally improved the team, much as they did nearly a decade earlier with the Stephon Marbury trade. While talk of a third star joining up looms in the background, the Knicks' cap situation and lack of trade assets makes it an unlikely scenario, as our Chad Ford recently detailed.

I miss Jeff Van Gundy. He valued production over style. The Knicks could use that mentality....

Never draft based on need!

Knicks knew they were on the verge of a rebuild. They should have been stockpiling BPAs...

As for Weis, what was his deal?? He didn't get hurt in France, did he? He was just so bad that it wasn't worth buying him out of his Euro contract I guess. (I guess scouts see 7'2" and figure that's all they need to know... When will they ever learn!)

(Kirilenko was taken at #24 that year. Jeff Foster at #21. Too bad Tapscot didn't grab one of those guys instead. (And, of course, the BPA of the entire draft was taken #57...))

Having Ron Artest on those early 2000 Knicks would have been interesting, to say the least.

Just to play the "What if?" game out, I'd assume he wouldn't have gotten a ton of PT to start behind Houston/Sprewell. But if Spree still wore out his welcome w/Dolan, would he have been more ready to trade him w/a young Artest waiting in the wings?

Could the Nix have gotten a better haul for Spree than Keith Van Horn had they say, traded him in the Summer of '01? Would they have avoided giving Houston the disastrous 5-year/100 million dollar deal and simply moved Spree back to SG and plugged Ron-Ron at SF?

The mind boggles...
