I agree with you Caleb. Once Mike Miller comes back, I think the Heat will be better for it. That said, I do have a question: how come Lebron isn't playing more at the 1? If you put him there, you will cut out some of his shots AND give him the opportunity to create for others. If you do that, especially with Mike Miller on the floor seeing more open shots than most people get during shootarounds, the Heat will be scorching.

With Miami we're seeing diminishing returns with LeBron and Wade. People will chalk it up to effort or "chemistry" but that's what you get when you have two such similar players. They're both mediocre outside shooters. They're both best with the ball in their hands. There's only one ball, and when LeBron has it, Wade has to contribute in other ways. Don't get me wrong, he's terrific off the ball, but his shooting, passing, rebounding and defense don't add up to the #2 player in the league. And vice-versa when Wade has the ball.

They might be the two best players in the league, but they're less valuable on the same team. (Unlike, say, a Dwight Howard-Chris Paul combo).

You gotta wonder about Spoelstra. Why the hell is Carlos Arroyo starting? And why is Mario Chalmers nailed to the bench?

But no free pass for Riles. Does anyone still think it was a good idea to ditch Michael Beasley for second-rounders, to free up the cash to sign Joel Anthony to a $20 million deal?

For all that, I think Miami's problems are a little overstated - barring injury, I still think they'll win 60. (Of course Wade has been banged up since preseason so that's no sure thing). If Mike Miller comes back healthy - another big if - they'll look a lot better.

i don't think that the 3 shooting is a problem. but if Bosh, Wade, LeBron can't win together then you have to ask questions of their coach, or their mentality coming into the season. Perhaps they were of the belief this season was going to be a little easier. I think their real worry is that they have so few tradeble pieces to sort this thing come February, if they haven't already by then

Different subject:

I watched part of the Heat and Pacers last night. What an ugly affair. Someone tell me why Wade and Lebron, generally poor 3 pt shooters, chuck so many?

The Pacers are no great shakes either. Bosh was out of control often, too. They have no flow and no bench. Can't say I'm heart broken, but I can't see that team winning 60, let alone 70 games. And the performance last night led to this Yahoo sports story (by the way, forgive the sentence structure. the Heat didn't lose two games last night...:)
-----

The Heat lost their second consecutive game on Monday night, losing badly to the Pacers at AmericanAirlines Arena, and afterward had to answer questions about their chemistry and cohesiveness.

"We're in a position where we're going to get everybody's best and we haven't jelled as a team," Chris Bosh said. "This is what we asked for coming into it, and we just have to keep going."

Miami is 8-6. Fourteen games into last season, they were 9-5 without Bosh and LeBron James.

Dwyane Wade, playing with a sprained wrist, shot just 1-for-13 from the field.

"We're not having fun right now," James said.
