I guess, once it became apparent that Paul was not coming, this became a really great option. Once they found a landing spot for Turiaf, it was all over. Chauncey probably joins Miami when the dust settles, and then he'll relish the opportunity to come and kill us, which he might succeed in. We may not be ready for the finals until we make one more big move, but I'm feeling really good. I think 40+ wins is a possibility.

I have no problem with Billups’ agent trying to scare teams away from picking him up on the amnesty waivers. However, how phony is “he thought this would be his final destination.” Srsly? You thought that this would be your final destination, Chauncey? Give me a break.

You misunderstood the quote. Wen his agent said, "His 'Final Destination'" he meant the film, Final Destination. As in, "Chauncey would have gotten worn to the ground trying to push the tempo under M'DA and it would have killed him."

Chauncey's agent just meant his client had cheated death, that's all.

Totally harmless

The Lakers should amnesty Kobe.Or trade him for D-Ho.Now THAT would be mercenary!

That would be really kind of Kobe and it'll also cement him in my mind as a person who just wants to win.

Robert Silverman: It works if NO releases its cap hold on David West.

In other words, Gasol + Odom for CP3 and West (on the mini MLE)? Although I have to think West can get more than 3M per.

Meanwhile there's no way the Lakers have enough assets to get Howard. AFter this trade they'll have Bynum and that's it. And Bynum's contract expires after next season. No way Bynum agrees to an extension with that putrid roster in ORL. I think this is it for them. They just have to hope that Bynum stays healthy and that some desperate/reasonable PF/C type is willing to come for the mini mid level.

I guess we are REALLY lucky that we're playing the Lakers while Bynum is on suspension. If all these trades go through, it'll be our frontcourt of Chandler, Amare, and Melo against Derek Caracter, Luke Walton, and World Peace. And a new coach/system.
