You misunderstood the quote. Wen his agent said, “His ‘Final Destination’” he meant the film, Final Destination. As in, “Chauncey would have gotten worn to the ground trying to push the tempo under M’DA and it would have killed him.”

Chauncey’s agent just meant his client had cheated death, that’s all.

Meanwhile there’s no way the Lakers have enough assets to get Howard. AFter this trade they’ll have Bynum and that’s it. And Bynum’s contract expires after next season. No way Bynum agrees to an extension with that putrid roster in ORL. I think this is it for them. They just have to hope that Bynum stays healthy and that some desperate/reasonable PF/C type is willing to come for the mini mid level.

I guess we are REALLY lucky that we’re playing the Lakers while Bynum is on suspension. If all these trades go through, it’ll be our frontcourt of Chandler, Amare, and Melo against Derek Caracter, Luke Walton, and World Peace. And a new coach/system.
