Good stuff, Brian -- our in-house history professor!

Over at the Mothership, we talked Linsanity in today's 5-on-5. And yes, I said Lin could be ranked as high as 40 at the end of the season.

When Eddie Jordan and Johnny Newman make a top 5 list well to me it makes what Lin has done seem much more unprecedented.

My sentiments exactly. We're dealing with some really unprecedented stuff with Lin.

Though Starks, Mason, Green all missed your list because of the definition even if they belong in spirit.

A top five waived players period list would be a lot more tough, but I guess I could do one like that eventually. Brad Davis would be also be guy who might pop up on a list like that (just off the top of my head). I wonder if Starks would even make the top five...

Interesting. Bob Houbregs was a surprise (as in the name was one that I thought I had heard of but I had no idea why). I remember Newman well and being surprised when I heard the Knicks picked him up since he did play regularly with Cleveland. What is surprising is that these guys are role players, starters but not stars.
