That play was not quite up to the level of Zach Randolph's viral "dribble off foot shoot a 3" play but it was really pathetic on Gallo's part. Nice work Mike.

From what I can see he's much more decisive than he was his first couple of years where he'd pound the ball on the perimeter, not knowing whether to attack or shoot the three. This play is a bit of a throw back to that. This year he's differing a lot, which people in the media criticize, but which is good. He is either, passing immediately (a lot of the time) or he's shooting because someone hit him in a perfect spot, or he's attacking/ drawing the foul, dishing, or scoring.
He's tops in my book. Keep him and Chandler, lock them up!

Overall, Gallo is a smart player. He's a good passer with a team first mentality. He's knows the importance attacking the rim and being aggressive. Unfortunately, he's inconsistent. As depicted in the highlight, he still has more to learn.

I actually remember that play! As Gallo started to back him down, I was thinking, great, he's finally learned to exploit his size and use his new low post game. Then he did the step back jumper, not squared up at all, and I thought, sometimes this guy is hopeless. Then I saw Landry come skying in the putback and thought, here it comes! And the ball took a really bad bounce, but I still left that sequence thinking, man, Landry knows how to play this game, and Gallo, despite all his talent, doesn't quite get it yet.

Thanks, Mike, for posting this. Very revealing. And very perceptive to point out what I totally missed the first time: Gallo not only did a bs stepback jumper over a much smaller player, but he gave up position to do it! Two sins in one play. Ouch.

Great piece, Mike. Do you think the K's have improved on offense since that game. I read a stat where 4 Knicks had double doubles against the Bulls. It's good to see D'Antoni ball coming to fruition. Watching Orlando, we're way ahead of them in terms of ball movement, no? It seems like they force a lot of shots, from what I've seen. Maybe they get away with it because of Dwight Howard's dominance defensively and on the boards.

Do you think we can get them on Thursday?

I love this section of the blog, good job!

It's weird that Gallo set for that jumper, with so much time in the clock.
