Frank: meanwhile there is no way there will be a full season. either the agents win and the NBPA decertifies and this all gets fixed in 2013, or the owners just keeping squeezing and the players break around thanksgiving. If I were the players I would make my best offer right now, say ok to the hard cap but make it a relatively high % of BRI, write some clauses in to protect the middle class players cut of the pie, and offer partially guaranteed contracts (ie. lots of guaranteed $ up front like in the NFL). Or else it will only get worse from there. not that i really mind that part of the season will be canceled. i think the regular season is too long anyway, and it can only help Amare stay healthy, can only give NJ less time to woo D-Will, etc.

Yeah, but a shortened season also means back to back to back games, and if you remember from 1999, that resulted in some pretty horrid basketball. (On the other hand, the Knicks went to the Finals that year, so maybe it wasn't all bad!)

In Shumpert’s 2nd game, he had 19 points (3-4 shooting from downtown), 10 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, and 2 turnovers. In his 3rd game (vs. DeMar DeRozan), he had 26 points and 6 rebounds. DeRozan, however, had 35 points and 6 rebounds. There isn’t much defense being played at these games, though. Josh Selby scored 42 points, Kyle Lowry had a 20-20 game, Austin Daye had 33 pts & 6 rebs, Jared Dudley had 24 pts and 9 rebs . . . you get the point. Shumpert has displayed some good athleticism, and even froze a defender with a Rondo-esque ball fake on a euro-step to the basket that resulted in a dunk. He’s also shooting the ball well, and not forcing anything, despite leading the team in scoring for all 3 games. I like what I’m hearing so far, but I’d like to see how things change when Chauncey and Extra E arrive.

Just read this tweet from someone watching the games in Vegas:

“Shumpert is the only guy playing defense on his team.”

As someone else mentioned on Twitter which made me crack up, this probably wont be the last time we say this about Shumpert lol

Actually, as I posted in the last thread, he was only 1-4 from 3, but that would make him 10-10 from inside the arc!

Very encouraging news. Love that he was knocking down 3s and letting the game come to him. Would love to know more about his defense though, that is if they are playing any defense at these games.
