Chandler has good athletic ability, performs well under pressure, and is one of the more versatile defenders on the team. The problem is that he's not a very good three point shooter at this stage of his career. I could live with that, but he insists on taking a high volume of his of shots from beyond the arc and just inside the arc. Virtually all those shots are hurting the team.

When he goes to the basket more and is more selective, he looks like a very solid prospect.

I'm actually shocked the coaching staff hasn't done more to try to get him under control yet. It couldn't be more obvious that he's hurting the team in a way that is very easy to correct. It's not like he's Nate Robinson firing a lot of stupid shots because his emotions get out of control. It looks like Chandler just doesn't "get it" yet.

I would tend to agree that he doesn't have a high basketball IQ, but Alan Hahn insists that he's actually pretty bright and the coaching staff says he absorbs things like a sponge.

Ess - Dog - I question Chandler's bball IQ too. Although he did make 4 of those three pointers. And his +/- is now at +8, with a pretty even impact on offense and defense.

I am not feeling wrong about Chandler yet, but my eyes are open, even if his ts% is now at 50.3% for the year, he seems to be helping the Knicks out there, maybe...

Where the hell is everybody? Crappy game last night. I guess we actually DO suck. I didn’t watch, but why did Lee only get 6 shots when he made them all? Noone else even came close to shooting 50% and he shot 100%. Meanwhile, Chandler takes 12 THREES? I’m starting to question his brainpower.

"How people can keep underestimating David Lee, thinking that he’s a product of a lousy team, easy shots, porous defense, uninspired opponents, lefty fetishism, Chris Duhon, the Washington Wizards … it boggles the mind"

These generalizations don't make sense. How does playing on a bad team RESULT in a career TS% of 62%? Is David Lee the only player that goes up against uninspired opponents (All 30 teams face each other)? Chris Duhon...this isn't even Lee's best season PER-wise. Does seem to have taken a larger offensive role this year, but he has always been a good player nonetheless with a career PER of 18.3.

What a player does against the Wizards should not be used as a primary argument about the quality of that player. The Wiz are terrible this season, and they've been dreck on the defensive end for several seasons now.

Against the Wizards, the Knicks posted an offensive rating of 150. That's a preposterous number. The only higher single-game offensive rating (that I'm aware of) was a 151 by the Utah Jazz. It came last March against the Wizards.

I was thinking of writing something about Lee in "The Expected" thread, but that post got a bit off track. What I wanted to say is that even for me, who cooks DLee's waffles every morning, it still comes as a near total surprise that he can score in the ways he does. With stars in this league, you know beforehand how they are going to get their points. They all have their signature moves, their scoring is expected in a sense. With Lee, all his points still seem like accidents. It's gotten better. He hits jumpshots now somewhat often, which is a way of scoring that people understand. But honestly, It always seems to have been an accident, or to have been created by another player.

But watch him long enough and you realize that he creates a lot of easy scoring opportunities just by moving well off the ball, having a high basketball IQ, and excellent ambidextrous finishing skills and athleticism. It isn't pretty, but it works very very well.

This play is a perfect example. Any NBA big man should be able to do that but most simply don't slip a screen as well as he does here.

Anyway, great stuff as always, I could watch Lee highlights all day long.
