* After the first lap, Roland Beech of 82games.com is in the lead. The statmaster is the only person to predict the entire first round correctly. Had Dallas lost their series, Beech’s bracket would have been good for bird cage liner, since he has them going all the way.

* Not only would the #1 seed fall if the Mavs lost, but #2 Kelly Dwyer would take a hit as well. While ESPN’s Dwyer doesn’t have Dallas winning it all like Beech, but he does have them upsetting the Suns in round 2.

* Near the rear are two guys that not only picked the Celtics to win this round, but the next as well. CelticsBlog.com writer Jeff had to go with the hometown 12, while New York Jets blogger Brian probably went with Boston because their green unis.

* Nothing that happens in the semifinals in the East will make an immediate difference, other than the number of games in the series. Of course an upset could wreck havoc with the round after, as it would be tough for the Pistons to win the East if they don’t survive the Pacers.

* As for the West, if Seattle upsets the Spurs Father KnickerBocker will be the only beneficiary. Meanwhile the Spurs/Suns winner could be a big difference maker, as the field is nearly split between the two.

* As for myself, although I picked every series except for one (thank you Boston), I didn’t pick the correct number of games in any series. That would make me the only participant with that dubious distinction.
