this team is so talented and everyone looks like they are all in …….iam going to enjoy rooting for this “unrootable” team

  2. er

are you guys joking? that is a serious question

If thats all you take away from this game then idk what to tell you

    @er
Melo was drawing double triple teams but was still looking to ISO, and shot a lot in 20ish minutes by any measure. It’s not as if there was no other offense available, as Boston was not successful stopping PnR with Chandler.

watch the tape dude…..melo was moving the ball way more than he went one on one…..and when he did he got to the rack note the 9 ft attempts

no one on the team could hit a shot tonight, but they played a gritty game against a very good team. Melo had the highest plus minus out of both teams starters, and he didnt stop chandler from getting pick and roles

You don’t take shots when your team has a lead and your teammates are lights out from 3 like they were tonight.

Landry Fields, Mike Bibby, Bill Walker and Toney Douglas would still be above average starters in NY if Melo had only passed them the ball more last year, especially when they were winning, which was like always.

    Yup, Melo still chucking.

He had no other real offensive threats out there, of course he’s gonna get his Kobe on lol. I wanna see what we look like when Stat is out there. Save for Felton’s J..everything looks ok as far as our rotation players go. Kurt Thomas looks like he’s gonna give us more production than we could have hoped for and he physically looks ready to handle it. Maybe i’m too anxious but I do think we have the right parts. Hopefully Woodson can use them properly. Well..we don’t exactly know how Stat’s gonna fit but..

Carmelo Anthony has looked extremely happy to be a New York Knick this season. He’s smiling in his interviews, he’s cheering on the team, and he’s playing with a lot more trust in his teammates. In fact, I think this is the happiest he’s looked all season. I hope WP/48 and WS/48 is as happy with him as he looks so far.

I missed some of the game multitasking work so I may have missed the ball movement er was referring to. But what I saw gave me flashbacks of playoffs last year in terms of the defense concentrated around Melo, except this time the PG situation is solved as far as Felton penetrating and running PnR with Chandler, tho he looked a bit out of control at times. The pt being this year is not supposed to look like the end of last year, yet again it did. Okay, we can point to the depleted roster again, and that’s fair and reasonable against what seems to be my unreasonable expectations. As far as JR being out, well he’s not even supposed to be on the floor with Melo most of the time so I don’t get the pt of even bringing that up.

bockadoo: Was Copeland dominating out there? 21 points? Did he look good enough to earn a roster spot?

mostly vs Celtics scrubs. He and Prigioni had a thing going on the PnR. James White looked very tentative but long and relatively smooth. Shurna and Sims need to be sent to the D-league immediately. Thomson had some moments, but really on the bubble. Out of the scrubs, definitely between Copeland and Thompson. Neither will play unless there is a rash of injuries. Copeland and Sullinger were about equal.

Novak ice-cold from 3 but hit two pull-ups off the dribble, one going left and one going right. Nice addition to his game.

The game got very exciting, Hartford fans were going crazy. Kidd had a huge long 2 and 2 FTs to put us ahead in OT.

Melo cryin’ about lots of non-calls. To be fair, officiating was spotty.

  11. Z-man

For the Celts, Darko looked like Darko, Sullinger can bang but seems like a slow-footed jumper. Terry looked good, Courtney Lee was OK. Even when Bradley gets back, their bench looks thin. Their bigs better stay healthy.

  12. diehardknickerbocker

NO STAT,NO J.R,NO CAMBY,NO SHUMP,NO BREWER N WE STILL WON. ADD THOSE PLAYERS N BOSTON DOESN’T HAVE A CHANCE. OH YEAH THEY DIDN’T HAVE AVERY BIG DEAL. MELO WENT 7 FOR 16 IN THREE QUARTERS N THE HATE CONTINUES. I GUESS WE GOTTA BUSS LEBRON KOBE N DURANTS ASS TO SHUT THESE HATERS UP. CAN’T WAIT!

  13. ruruland

FWIW, Melo has a 63 TS through the first two games, 40 points in 45 minutes on 25 shots, with just two turnovers.

He and Chandler are (combined) averaging a +11.5 in an average of just 24 mpg.

The three Knicks starters (going into the season) were a +3.5 against a Boston team playing all of its starters, and down just one core bench piece (assuming Terry is a starter).

A night after Knickerblogger posters bitched about not bing able to win when the team shoots poorly from thh 3pt line, the Knicks beat Boston going 3-29 from 3.

The outscored Boston’s starters despite the Knicks starters going 1-8 from three.

Raymond Felton has 15 assists in 43 minutes.

Fuck, this was not a pre-season game. The Knicks scored pretty well on offense considering they were facing the league’s best defensive team from last year.

Those kinds of teams have a tendency to force offenses into tough looks most nights, and that’s one of the reasons you pay Carmlo Anthony $20 million a year, especially when you are missing scoring punch.

And sidestep, JR is going to play a lot of minutes with Melo. Your logic is horrid.

It’s going to be so sweet when we beat that team in the playoffs this year.

  15. ruruland

Six of Melo’s 11 makes this preseason have been assisted. That’s roughly the percentage of assisted looks he’ll need to have a TS% of .570+

now you’re getting the hang of this Knicks fan thing, except we never ever ever beat Paul Pierce and Rondo when it counts. I hope you’re right, though…

  17. massive

I don’t agree with putting much stock into pre season games, especially when playing Boston (they don’t play @ 100% when the games count lol). Beating the Cs always feels great, though. That said, I am standing by my prediction of us besting the Cs in the season series 3-1. Outside of Rondo, Bradley, Pierce and Garnett, that team is extremely average. I don’t see how people think that team is clearly better than ours.

I still need to see how this team plays with Stat on court. I think Woodson needs to run the P&R primarily with Chandler and with Stoudemire (only) when Camby is on court. This way, there is always a mid range threat to complement the P&R. If Melo, Stat, and Chandler can be synergistic on offense, we’ll have the 2nd seed.

  18. nyklyt12

after game coach Woodson said he forgot about copeland in the first half. said he got em in there in the second half and said “he played his ass off”. really hope he makes final roster seems like the type of player that can change the intensity of the game just on high energy and hustle plays off the bench. good feeling bout this group. GO KNICKS!!

  19. nyklyt12

preseason or not beating celts always matters… you could see how bad celtic vets (especially Garnett) wanted this. last preseason paul pierce definitely made sure knicks knew who was the better team

  20. AvonBarksdale

great crowd, great game, highly entertaining…..it’ll be nice to see pablo after he gets into a groove with some of the other players. novak dribble step jumper was hilarious and chandler looked like he’s ready to alley oop all season…even shot a 15 footer..didn’t go in but anyone guess what he’s gonna average?
