Nice start to the game so far, hope it stays that way for a nice simple win. Lets leave the exciting games to the teams without ancient, injury prone players.

  2. yellowboy90

    Brian Cronin:
I hope Melo doesn’t even need a 40 point game tonight.

Indeed. I am ok with 40 by the end of the 3rd with the Knicks leading by 24+ pts

  3. Kahnzy

    cgreene:
Melo is terrible at defending the break

While I would rather see the star player at least attempt to defend a fast break, you also have to consider that Melo would more than likely just have given the guy an and 1. I’d love to see him chase down fast breaks for the block like Lebron, but I also appreciate the smarts to recognize he’s not stopping the play, so no point giving up a free throw on top of it.

  4. Brian Cronin Post author

Terrence Williams enters game for Kevin Garnett

    Sounds like a good substitution.

  5. Kahnzy

Terrible last possession by Smith. Woody/Kidd need to calm him down. He’s trying to showup Terry and bad JR is coming out.

  6. ruruland

    Will the Thrill:
Shump has been much better than Kidd thus far.

Yeah, blowing a wide open 2-1 layup can kind of swing momentum.

Not sure why JR took the last shot there when Bass has two fouls.

  7. ruruland

    cgreene:
JR sucking. Also little discussed fact about JR is he has a bad handle

Bad handle? I’d say it’s more that he inconsistently uses his handle to move forward. He actually has a really good handle, he just has a tendency to not go anywhere with it (or side to side).

  8. yellowboy90

Now that the Knicks have Hopla working on their shot can they go get a lay up specialist?

  9. Will the Thrill

I don’t think we are talking about the same fast break. I definitely understand the one where Melo was running behind Bass. I just don’t know why, on the play where Bass side-stepped him for a layup, he didn’t run back to stop the ball because he had that opportunity nearly crossing half court.

Kahnzy: I’d love to see him chase down fast breaks for the block like Lebron, but I also appreciate the smarts to recognize he’s not stopping the play, so no point giving up a free throw on top of it.

Woody gives JR a lot of rope. I guess it has worked enough in the past that I can’t complain about it here.

  11. ruruland

    IDK about that.
Missed an open corner 3, took two step-backs, missed an inside shot on a drive. Needs to attack basket with Melo out now.

  12. cgreene

ruruland: Bad handle? I’d say it’s more that he inconsistently uses his handle to move forward. He actually has a really good handle, he just has a tendency to not go anywhere with it (or side to side).

Incorrect. He frequently loses control of the ball when he picks up momentum causing him to not be able to go into his move

  13. ruruland

cgreene: Incorrect. He frequently loses control of the ball when he picks up momentum causing him to not be able to go into his move

Yeah, I can see that. His handle to create the initial move or series of moves is very good.

  14. Nick C.

Novak with the pump fake before draining a jumper. Maybe he can contribute deep i the playoffs after all.

  15. maxwell_3g

the nba has to be the most pu$$y league in the history of sport. i cant stand this crap. flagrant my ars

  16. Brian Cronin Post author

Honestly, they change these things a lot, so I am not shocked. I am very, very happy, though.

  17. ruruland

    From Crawford though? That’s incredible.

  18. BigBlueAL

I think Woody needs to change the rotation a bit to make sure Felton is on the floor when Melo isnt. One of them needs to always be on the floor cause when both are out the offense really struggles unless JR is on fire.

    Amar’e!! Amar’e!!

  20. Kahnzy

They call most everything that looks flagrant just so they can go review it. I’ve got no problem with that, provided they make the right call in the end of course.

    Yes

  22. maxwell_3g

im def rooting against KG in this series, but why does everyone hate him. we all yearn for the good ol days, where players hated eachother, instead of hugging it up at the end of games. we revere the oak man, the x-man, mase, lambier, etc. so why not like KG for that? hes one of two players that we can say legitimately hates lequeen (the other being noah). i respect him a lot and will miss him when hes gone

  23. Brian Cronin Post author

    Yeah, exactly.

  24. DRed

KG was an unbelievably good player in his prime who got stuck on some terrible T-Wolves teams and got something of an unfair rep as a guy who couldn’t win in the playoffs. He also was, and still is, a fugazi tough guy who only picks on players he sees as weak.

  25. Nick C.

grumble. Scratch that. Tyson smash oop. Pierce air ball.JR to the line for a possible three point play.

  26. maxwell_3g

JR is asking for an explanation on the traval call. let me explain it to you JR. Kidd fouled pierce and they didnt call it. as soon as you pivoted, all 3 refs decided they would call you for travel. its called the NBA makeup call. no need to ask any more questions

  27. maxwell_3g

i cant agree with that. he brought it against the lakers in the wcf iwth the wolves one year. he didnt back down. he has never backed down to the big 3 in miami. he didnt back down to melo. its not like these guys are mobsters. kg shouldnt have to committ a double homicide on the court to prove hes tough. i actually think most of his theatrics are to fire himself up anyways

  28. yellowboy90

I would like to see Melo work on developing a hook shot from the low post.

  29. d-mar

    BigBlueAL:
Very disappointing half for the Knicks, especially after the hot start.

Yeah really don’t like the way this game is going, don’t want to give the Celtics any hope

  30. Will the Thrill

Can’t believe how bad we are playing. Hopefully we have a great third quarter.

  31. maxwell_3g

kidd has shocked me. i thought this would be the game where he does all sorts of kidd things. still the 2nd half though

  32. maxwell_3g

NBA refereeing is rearing its ugly head here. these are really the best in the world??

  33. massive

You saw that smile on Paul Pierce’s face? I hate that smile the most in all of sports.

  34. BigBlueAL

Talk trash last couple of days about tonight being a funeral for the Celtics. Talk the talk better walk the fucking walk.

  35. Brian Cronin Post author

    Funny tweet by Simmons:

The Celtics would’ve beaten the 2012 Heat if they had Avery Bradley, and they could beat the 2013 Knicks if they had Avery Bradley.

Bradley really has been shockingly bad this series.

  36. johnlocke

Kidd has played like shit, JR has played like shit and Felton needs to be more aggressive. That’s my half time summary

  37. BigBlueAL

er: They are literally are giddy lol

Barkley said pre-game he was rooting for the Celtics because of the crap JR was talking yesterday. He should be giddy right now.

  38. Brian Cronin Post author

Kidd has played like shit, JR has played like shit and Felton needs to be more aggressive. That’s my half time summary

Yeah, with all of that to only be down six is big.

  39. Hubert Davis

Wow. Jason Terry did the jet up the sideline. That better not be forgotten in the 2H.

  40. maxwell_3g

    1) melo has to move the ball
    2) good JR (or atleast take it to the hoop JR) has to show up for the second half
    3) chandler needs to wake the f up
    4) felton needs to keep it up
    5) basketball savant Kidd has to reappear for the second half

  41. maxwell_3g

    Hubert Davis:
Wow. Jason Terry did the jet up the sideline. That better not be forgotten in the 2H.

yeah, i love all the whining about our “showboating” (which didnt really happen) and they do the same stuff. its just typical whiney stuff from the celtics, probably just trying to fire themselves up though

  42. Hubert Davis

The only people who think Avery Bradley doesn’t suck at basketball is bill Simmons and his echo chamber. Shumpert >>>>> Bradley

  43. er

    Hubert Davis:
Wow. Jason Terry did the jet up the sideline. That better not be forgotten in the 2H.

thats what i didnt get about the knick showboat talk….they have pierce and terry

  44. er

chuck is the worst….who cares what spike has to say hes a fan……Billy Christal said the Clips would finish the grizz in 6 during game one. Did chuck catch wood for the grizz immediately. What an assclown

  45. maxwell_3g

the c’s are not bringing quick doubles to melo. if he cant dominate brandon bass on one on ones with quick moves, there is a problem

  46. Will the Thrill

Felton’s been our best guy so far. He’s really making our team run.

  47. Nick C.

Three straight possessions Tyson raises his arm and in goes a driving shot. He’s like a spotter plane.

  48. nicos

It’s baffling to me that there are people who think Prigs (or even Kidd) is more important to this team than Felton.

  49. Brian Cronin Post author

The Celtics are so ripe to be taken right here, put the pedal down Knicks!

Right? They have been reeling in all five third quarters so far. The Knicks just need to keep pressing on them and they’re bound to fall apart.

  50. Brian Cronin Post author

Terrence Williams enters game for Kevin Garnett

That never stops being funny to me.

  51. llcoolbp

This is rays moment to shine. This year, this playoffs. He’s been doubted as a good point guard his entire career. This is his time to shut up the critics.

  52. maxwell_3g

I dont always watch the fast break, but when I do, I prefer that it is not run by Shump

  53. d-mar

If we lose this game because Jason Terry goes off, keep sharp objects away from me please

  54. maxwell_3g

the celts have made some ridiculous shots. we need to keep playing hard and grind this one out

  55. Will the Thrill

Melo with a tremendously stupid double… this could easily go 7 games.

  56. BigBlueAL

Jason Terry talks shit but at least he knows how to back it up unlike anyone on the Knicks.

  57. Brian Cronin Post author

Shouldn’t have tried that three, Melo, think of your efficiency! ;)

  58. gmoney_nz

I have a bad feeling that if the Celtics take this game that there is a 50/50 chance of history being made in the garden in game 7…and not in a good way.

WE HAVE TO WIN THIS GAME! IT HAS TO STOP NOW!

  59. d-mar

Wow, Knicks playing like absolute fucking garbage. Melo 2 games in a row where he can’t make a shot.

Otherwise, this game is in the bag!

  60. johnlocke

JR and Kidd are fucking terrible now…why woody had both in at the sane time who the hell knows

    Knicks4Eva:
Take JR out of the fucking game.

  61. JK47

Now Melo’s hurt, in a game we should have never been playing in the first place.

This team looks like poo anyway.

  62. JK47

    Down by 11.

This team really just did not show up today.

Well, maybe they’ll win game 7.

  63. JK47

The Knicks are quitting in this game. They’re absolutely, positively quitting.

    Gutless.

  64. Kikuchiyo

I think my television is broken. It’s been saying the Knicks have 60 points for about the last half hour.

  65. mr.JayP

This is fucking aggravating. I’m livid right now.

    Welcome back Woody From ATL.

  66. maxwell_3g

ive supported him for 2 years now, but what the heck is Chandler’s purpose out there if Jeff green is strolling through the lane jamming on our heads??

  67. llcoolbp

Knicks are playing like scared pussies. They should be booed off the court. Just pathetic. It starts from the top, therefore melo should take the brunt of the criticism.

  68. dogrufus

So it’s 3-2. Not much chance we win in Boston again.

The Celts probably just got themselves about a 60% chance of winning the series.

Our gimmick offense is just helpless. Miami’s D won’t be any worse.

  69. BigBlueAL

I feel like a fucking idiot for actually thinking this team had a chance of doing something special this season. Seriously just give the Heat a forfeit to the NBA Finals.

  70. cgreene

    Kikuchiyo:
I think my television is broken. It’s been saying the Knicks have 60 points for about the last half hour.

Knicks have not scored a point this quarter

  71. ess-dog

I would like Kmart to pick up his 6th foul while smacking Garnett in the face.

  72. gmoney_nz

This is madness – the play-offs are about planning, consistency and a back-up gameplan….where is any of that – three great games followed by this – we cant get past Indy let alone Miami playing like this.

Could JR’s elbow be as historical as Starks 2 for 18

  73. johnlocke

Kidd who refuses to shoot gets tons of minutes, cope gets no minutes, JR is drunk and keeps shooting…woody is a moron …an inflexible stupid idiot

    mr.JayP:
This is fucking aggravating. I’m livid right now.

    Welcome back Woody From ATL.

  74. d-mar

Way to exorcise those Celtic demons, I’m sure Boston will have no confidence going into game 6.

This is not a great time to be a Knicks fan

  75. JK47

They’re playing like a caricature of themselves– all iso’s, terrible 19-foot fadeaway bricks… Just no discipline and no pride. They look terrible.

Melo is choking BIG TIME. He sucked in Game 4 and he sucks today.

  76. llcoolbp

There is no way to spin this. Melo needed to step up in game 4 and today, and has not. For the first time,it’s as clear as day to me, why he’s not ever mentioned in the same league as Kobe, Durant, lebron, et al.

  77. Will the Thrill

Playing Kidd instead of Shumpert to get back into the game is indefensible.

  78. maxwell_3g

the celts are going to give us a chance here. is it not time to give cope a chance to space the floor though??

  79. JK47

JR Smith is playing completely out of control. He is killing the team right now. Gotta get him out of there– he is doing nothing.

    Put in Shump.

  80. ess-dog

    Here we go…

Don’t freak out people. They need to stick with the game plan: active D and run through Melo.

  81. maxwell_3g

if im a defender and shump is running in for a layup, i just avoid fouling him. no way he makes that shot

  82. Will the Thrill

A game, out of only 2 left. One of which is in Boston.

    er:
Gotta love knick board panic….Knicks just gotta win a game chill guys

  83. er

You guys give up so easy, the Knicks will win this series. No one listened when I was bitching about the three days off in between games. If the Cs win tonight it moves to every other day

  84. Will the Thrill

Really can’t believe we ever had Kidd on fucking Pierce. Has Woodson watched Shumpert all series?

  85. JK47

    Knicks offense:

    1. Dribble into crowd of four guys standing in paint
    2. Flail arms, or throw up wild shot, hoping for foul

  86. maxwell_3g

i actually think woody is doing the right thing sticking with JR. cant give up on him now. of course, i also thought riley was right sticking with starks instead of hubert davis in game 7

  87. d-mar

Celtics are playing like shit, and our response is to play like smellier shit. This is really painful to watch.

  88. maxwell_3g

    JK47:

K guess u didn’t see the 2011 or 2010 finals where Kobe was awful and game 7 and lebron did what he did

  90. llcoolbp

    maxwell_3g:
i actually think woody is doing the right thing sticking with JR.cant give up on him now.of course, i also thought riley was right sticking with starks instead of hubert davis in game 7

Different situation. Riley was right, because that was games 7 of the finals. He rode Starks to that game. This is still the first round and we haven’t smelled the second round since 2000.

  91. johnlocke

    Screw that man….get him out!

    maxwell_3g:

  93. BigBlueAL

er: K guess u didn’t see the 2011 or 2010 finals where Kobe was awful and game 7 and lebron did what he did

    Just stop.

  94. JK47

Terry with the dagger. Game over.

This team sucked really bad today. Time to panic.

  95. Will the Thrill

There is a distinct difference between the 1st round and the finals. See, being in the finals hints at you performing well in the playoffs in previous games. Being in the 1st round…well…

er: K guess u didn’t see the 2011 or 2010 finals where Kobe was awful and game 7 and lebron did what he did

  96. maxwell_3g

yes. the c’s are making everything. put this is why you dont screw around for the first 3 1/2 quarters

  97. BigBlueAL

Never been as disappointed with a Knicks team in my life as I am tonight. That’s saying something.

  98. ess-dog

Well, Boston is just shooting the three the way we did in the first couple games. And we’re shooting 17% from three.

Maybe we’ll find the range again in Boston.

  99. johnlocke

How did JR not get that fucking steal.. Fucking pathetic …I’ve lost so much faith in JR going firward

    mr.JayP:
man…why is JR still out there?

  100. llcoolbp

The jeff green show. Wake me up when it’s 2015 and they can blow this team up. Oh wait they will probably sign melo to a max extension before then. Is it possible that the mets will actually be good before the Knicks.

  101. Juany8

Lol you guys are sad. Yea when teams shoot 50% on 3′s, they win games. Simple as that sometimes, especially if they’re getting every lucky bounce.

JR played absolutely embarassing this game though. Reminds me of Bynum last year saying close out games were easy up 3-1 in the series… and they needed a game 7 to beat the Nuggets. Stupidest thing you can do is get cocky and start talking trash ahead of time. You end up pressing to back up your silly statements, knowing you’re gonna look like a dumbass if you don’t… and then you shoot like 10% in a playoff game after getting ejected.

  102. ess-dog

I’m not really feeling so bad about this game for some reason. We just can’t shoot tonight (except Ray.)

I’ve seen Knick teams play much more lethargic than this game. C’mon guys, it’s been worse than this.

    Next game:

    1. shoot better
    2. keep Garnett off the boards

  103. Knicks4Eva

    Just pathetic effort level.
We may still win the series, but Jesus Christ.

  104. er

er: Lol k change goal posts buddy

I never said Melo was as good as those guys but, you said Melo sucks because of this game, an i gave examples of those players not comin up big. Then u guys pile on talking about finals so you win good job.

  105. johnlocke

Watching this game with a couple buddies who are Celtics fans….this really, really. Sucks

  106. JK47

On the plus side maybe we get JR Smith back at a bargain price now since it’s clear he is not a winner.

  107. mr.JayP

Its not about the C’s shooting well, or the knicks not shooting well.

Its about a supposed title contender not playing with the tenacity needed to close out a series at home.

Its about a supposed title contender not being able to make adjustments IN the game to close out a game.

Your All-Star not elevating his game to the level thats needed to compete.

  108. er

    mr.JayP:
These two losses are directly placed on Woody and Melo. Nuff Said…

    Juany8:

That’s what I was pissed about 3 days between every game, I just wanted o play right away. Not only do the celtics get rest, the Knicks can say dumb shit

Weren’t we saying this last year in the playoffs when JR and Novak screwed the pooch against Miami?

  110. maxwell_3g

i love how terry keeps quoting millar. when we win game 6, can everyone in the media just tell him to STFU?

  111. Shad0wF0x

My god relax. They missed WIDE open shots. They got some good looking shots that just didn’t go in.

  112. mr.JayP

    maxwell_3g:
i love how terry keeps quoting millar.when we win game 6, can everyone in the media just tell him to STFU?

LoL the fact that he still has the ability to talk means we havent shut him up ( won the series).

Even if you hate terry, he’s backing it up with two good back to back performances.

  113. llcoolbp

One more thing, if the Celtics knock out the Knicks after being down 3-0. Can we all agree, it’s time to blow this team up? i.e. trade melo for picks and expiring contracts and wait for 2015. You know Dolan won’t do it. Too much revenue coming in. No reason for change. But this is getting old.

  114. maxwell_3g

guys, woddy has p’d me off, but you cant blame him for playing JR…. we need JR to be a decent team. we have wed ourselves to JR and his crazy self. its just that simple. that is a big reason he only gets $3 mill a year. hes an integral part of a team and we got to stick with him, despite the fact that it will likely be our undoing

  115. Juany8

Guess Chris Paul fucking sucks then, if the Knicks are screwed up 3-2 in a series, how screwed is he when down 2-3 against a team that’s pretty damn good? I’d hate to be stuck with a superstar who’s only won 2 playoff series and who’s won a whole 3 games in the second round

  116. johnlocke

JR is the moron who claimed that he would have been playing golf, he also made his 2 sarcastic shots when the game was over, the moron who got suspended….fuck JR. Melo shot poorly and Woody is stubborn, but the media is going to have a field day with Earl. I really don’t know if I trust him as the 2nd option going fwd even if we get past this round, we need Amare and we need him bad.

mr.JayP: who gave him so much rope this game?

What was melo shooting numbers in Game 4?

  117. mr.JayP

    Shad0wF0x:
My god relax. They missed WIDE open shots. They got some good looking shots that just didn’t go in.

In the 3rd-4th, how many consecutive long 2′s and 3′s did they miss in a row before they put the ball on the floor to get to the charity stripe? 8? 9?

We cant always count on our long shots to alway fall.

  118. AnonymousODG

Sure would be nice to have Amare back.

Nah, it’d just show us that, defying all expectations, the curse of Isiah still holds strong. Basically, you can only end the curse by salting and burning his corpse.

  119. d-mar

As crappy as I feel right now, I think the Knicks are going to take care of business Friday night. I still believe they’re a better team than Boston, they just couldn’t hit anything tonight and the Celtics shot over 50% from downtown. Friday’s game will be more like games 1-3.

  120. Juany8

Don’t use Logic, that has no power here! How dare you suggest the Celtics might not continue to shoot 50% from 3, or that the Knicks won’t continue to shoot 20% from 3 the same game? After all, when looking at a 5 game series you only need to observe the results of the last game.

So Ruruland I have been an even keeled commenter and decent Melo supporter. I think that Carmelo Anthony is psychologically weak. I don’t think he has the mental makeup to produce at the highest level of the sport. For example in this game (and frankly the whole series) he cannot figure out how to overcome the soft double team. He needs to take quick one dribble pull ups or quick drives against that semi zone scheme. Instead he holds the ball in what looks like a state of mind or a thought process that is freezing him. He then slowly dribbles into the soft double which is exactly what that defense is designed to do and can’t make a strong play against it. Please explain why he can’t figure this out. Please tell me why I shouldn’t feel how I do about Melo’s mental makeup. (Alliteration intended)

Juany8: Guess Chris Paul fucking sucks then, if the Knicks are screwed up 3-2 in a series, how screwed is he when down 2-3 against a team that’s pretty damn good? I’d hate to be stuck with a superstar who’s only won 2 playoff series and who’s won a whole 3 games in the second round

Its not even about the knicks being screwed in this series, but as a supposed title contender you are supposed to have a certain consistent play style and attitude every game.

Knicks lost their cool a bit and didnt make proper adjustments to win. Example A- Leaving Kidd in there for way too long, that hampered our offense for a good portion.

Yes, Chris Paul sucks. You know who sucks even more? That Clippers coach who wont have a job next season when they get booted in the first round Lol

Sure would be nice to have Amare back.

Nah, it’d just show us that, defying all expectations, the curse of Isiah still holds strong.Basically, you can only end the curse by salting and burning his corpse.

And in other news the sky is blue. (Sorry you set me up there)

  124. JK47

The Knicks just look like a bunch of punks right now. They have a chance to redeem themselves, but if they lose this series they’re going to look like a joke with their elbow throwing and their “funeral black” smack talk.

  125. Juany8

All teams look good when they’re making 3′s. Difference is the Knicks have been doing it all season, including in this series. JR needs to fucking bring it going forward though, he was pathetic tonight.

  126. mr.JayP

    johnlocke:
JR is the moron who claimed that he would have been playing golf, he also made his 2 sarcastic shots when the game was over, the moron who got suspended….fuck JR. Melo shot poorly and Woody is stubborn, but the media is going to have a field day with Earl. I really don’t know if I trust him as the 2nd option going fwd even if we get past this round, we need Amare and we need him bad.

Agreed. what i was most peeved about was that woody didnt take him out to sit him down and talk to him to settle him. Jr cant go back to just chucking long shots till they fall. He has to drive, especially if KG is on the bench! he didnt do that for a large portion of the 2nd half. if at all.

  127. nicos

Not that surprising that the two guys who did the most talking- JR and Martin- both played like shit. I still think the Knicks will probably close it out in Boston- Boston’s not going to shoot three’s like they did tonight and neither are the Knicks but the Knicks sure as heck didn’t play like real championship contenders tonight.
Some other thoughts- Kidd and Prigs minutes need to flip. Boston is basically zoning off of both of them and daring them to shoot but at least Prigs will penetrate a bit to get the defense moving. Shumpert needs to be on the court more- he’s been the best defensive player in the series not named Garnett (who’s completely outplayed Chandler by the way) I’m fine with JR or Kidd playing a few less minutes to get Shumpert a little more time. And while I think the Knicks will beat Boston and probably Indiana, if Felton is going to continue to be the Knicks best player, Miami will crush them.

  128. llcoolbp

Seriously, if they escape Boston (can’t believe I just said that), amare has to be worked back into the lineup. Even if he’s rusty games 1 and 2, it will pay dividends later. I don’t think I can take anymore fadeaway jumpers (melo and smith- missing horribly, pierce and terry- knocking them down and then doing the mark Jackson airplane/helicopter down the court).

  129. jon abbey

yeah, that was bad but we still control the series. if Melo and/or JR play a big game in either of these next two, we close this out. disappointing even if they win in six, although that was what I predicted going in.

on another note, the sky is the limit for Shumpert in this league. there is very little he can’t do very well, it’s just a question of consistently putting it all together.

and I haven’t really read this thread, but some serious acting by the Celtics tonight on a few big occasions, Garnett, Green and Pierce all had Olympic-caliber dives. the league should back up its talk on flopping before game 6 with some fines, that Garnett one on the K-Mart foul was just shy of a cartwheel.

  130. BigBlueAL

Its not about losing this game, as mentioned earlier its about this team supposedly being a title contender. You dont talk crap leading up to the game then get punked at home. They look like fucking idiots right now. They can win Game 6 and it wont matter, the memory of this game and the “tough/prideful” Celtics forcing a Game 6 after being down 3-0 is all people will remember about this series.

  131. DRed

Terrible loss, yes, but we have to win one out of two against an inferior team. Some of you need to come in off the ledge

    This guy gets it.

Knicks have more to lose than the Celtics, and they know that. No reason we should be playing like this.

FYI, Woody needs to add more wrinkles to his offense or melo needs to go back to that 4 sec or less routine. Our offense look worlds apart than when we played during our last leg of the reg. season.

Miami trailed Boston last season. Heck, they trailed INDIANA! Winning this series going away wouldn’t prove anything. Just winning it is enough.

This game was lost in the 1st Q when Brandon Bass brought the celtics back from 11-0. If jr came in and hit a few shots maybe we could have kept them at bay

  138. BigBlueAL

Look in alot of ways I feel bad being so disappointed in this team right now. They still should win this series and win the next one too. The regular season exceeded all my pre-season hopes and the first 3 games of this series was great.

But this is what happens when you have expectations for a team which they earned by having such a great regular season especially with the way they ended the season. We cant talk big and start having expectations or hopes of giving the Heat a challenge and being able to beat them then lose this game tonight and take it as no big deal, especially with the way the Celtics mostly dominated this game.

We cant mock the Pacers for struggling with the Hawks and then just ignore this loss as no big deal.

Just saw footage of Jordan Crawford talking shit to Felton and Melo walking off the floor. Seriously.

i want to say “I expect a blow out win at TD Gardens”

But i won’t lie, knicks left my faith a little rattled. I remember texting my friends saying the same shit about Game 4 and tonight Lol.

  141. bockadoo

How can we lose with such high character leaders as Carmelo Anthony and JR Smith? Melo with the mural of himself, clutch shooting… JR with the talk about winning the 4th game if he was there…sickening.

I guarantee you all the NBA sends their youngest/worst officiating crew to Boston on Friday and the C’s dominate the calls

I hear you man, I just feel like if somehow the offense can be semi decent we will win. Last two games we were awful and still had a shot. So just a decent game, and of Boston doesn’t make 12 3s we should be ok

Went to the game. Disappointed with the Knicks. REALLY disappointed with the fans. No energy in the arena at all. Was basically chanting defense all by myself. Crowd was basically dead compared to what I remember of playoff basketball in my youth.

The Celtics were really lucky with their three point shooting. We were not. But no excuses for losing that game….

i dont know. i was at the game too. when you miss so many shots in a row, it takes the crowd out of it. I thought crowd wanted to get into it, but knicks never made a run. Shump was the only one who brought any energy tonight.

  149. Brian Cronin Post author

Oh, don’t get me wrong, Al, I totally agree that these two losses have made it so that the Indiana series no longer looks like the shoo-in it looked like a few days ago. The Knicks, though, should still win that series and give Miami a tough match in the finals. They just won’t be doing it smoothly. But as I mentioned, neither did the Heat last year. It doesn’t make the end result any less sweet m

  150. matte sideburns

Maybe it’s a stages of grief thing but right now I think this is a good thing for this team. This is a chance to learn about playoff basketball from an opponent that really has nothing else going for them except their playoff experience. Put away all the black suit immaturity, grow up, then go into Boston and put the Celtics away.
Better to learn this lesson now than to learn it later against a team that could really make us pay four times.

Hopefully the Celtics emotionally have nothing left for Game 6. They have put alot into these past 2 games so here’s hoping they come out flat on Friday. Of course we have to hope the Knicks dont come out tight and playing nervous themselves.

    maxwell_3g: felotn too i thought

yeah, agree with that 100%. Felton and Shump have been best 2 players for Knicks this series. Also agree whether they win in 5, 6, or 7 doesnt matter as long as they win.

  154. joengai

an optimistic friend of mine said something interesting– maybe this series is just a microcosm of our entire season. our 3-0 series lead represented our 18-5 start, and the past two games were like jan – early march. hopefully game six at TD will be when we pick up the slack again.
