The New York Daily News reported earlier today that league sources have confirmed that Iman Shumpert had arthroscopic surgery on his knee in July. The Knicks are reportedly displeased with Shumpert for not getting the surgery earlier in the offseason. Of course, many of you have no doubt noticed the seeming double standard involved with Shumpert and the Knicks where he gets guff for his unplanned surgery while JR Smith got none for his own unplanned knee surgery the same month.
In other Shumpert news, league sources have also reported that the Knicks actually thought that they had a deal in place on Tuesday with Denver where Shumpert would be traded for Kenneth Faried. But then the Nuggets killed the deal by insisting that the Knicks also throw in a draft pick (of course they asked the Knicks to throw in a draft pick – the only surprising thing was that it actually killed the deal).
The Knicks are also trying to package Shumpert, Raymond Felton and Amar’e Stoudemire to the Celtics for Rajon Rondo but the Celtics don’t seem even the slightest bit interested in such a deal. Meanwhile, though, hilariously enough, the Knicks and Celtic are discussing a Stoudemire/Gerald Wallace trade. Are you freakin’ kidding me with that trade? That would possibly be the most Knicks-esque trade of all-time.
