NY Daily News: Knicks guard Iman Shumpert had secret knee surgery over the summer

The New York Daily News reported earlier today that league sources have confirmed that Iman Shumpert had arthroscopic surgery on his knee in July. The Knicks are reportedly displeased with Shumpert for not getting the surgery earlier in the offseason. Of course, many of you have no doubt noticed the seeming double standard involved with Shumpert and the Knicks where he gets guff for his unplanned surgery while JR Smith got none for his own unplanned knee surgery the same month.

In other Shumpert news, league sources have also reported that the Knicks actually thought that they had a deal in place on Tuesday with Denver where Shumpert would be traded for Kenneth Faried. But then the Nuggets killed the deal by insisting that the Knicks also throw in a draft pick (of course they asked the Knicks to throw in a draft pick – the only surprising thing was that it actually killed the deal).

The Knicks are also trying to package Shumpert, Raymond Felton and Amar’e Stoudemire to the Celtics for Rajon Rondo but the Celtics don’t seem even the slightest bit interested in such a deal. Meanwhile, though, hilariously enough, the Knicks and Celtic are discussing a Stoudemire/Gerald Wallace trade. Are you freakin’ kidding me with that trade? That would possibly be the most Knicks-esque trade of all-time.

Nice , that is sure to enhance his trade value. This is so typical for this franchise, secret surgeries, “reassigning” the GM just before the start of the season only to bring back the architect of a dismal 10 year run in ha place , etc. etc…. I have been a fan for a long time but it is getting harder an harder to stay with this dysfunctional team. Let’s stop with these stupid trade rumors that will NEVER happen, Love to the Knicks, Shumpert for Rondo, ……. It gets old. We are stuck with the team we have, need to make it work the best they can. There is no savior coming anytime soon.

Meanwhile, WTF is up with the tweets from MWP’s brother, saying that Peace was not hurt the other night and was sitting for some other mysterious reason? Does anybody know what in the hell is up with that? Because it is really weird how they are using the guy. He’s pretty obviously one of the best two-way players on the roster but the Knicks have used him for 22 minutes or less in 6 of their 9 games this year. This team sucks on defense, so maybe they might want to consider a bigger role for the guy, but instead he’s in street clothes and Chris Smith dresses. Even though Metta is not hurt. Supposedly.

I’m surprised Dolan hasn’t figured out a way to block twitter from posting anything related to his New York Knicks.

Artest thanked the Knicks for attending his sister’s funeral over twitter so, unfortunately, maybe that was the issue. Maybe Artest just was not up to playing. IDK, but that makes a lot if sense.

Good one, I am sure Dolan is working on blocking Twitter posts about the Knicks as we speak…. We are in for a long year unless things turn around soon.

Apparently the funeral was not the reason, according to Marc Berman (who is essentially the Knicks’ mouthpiece, so I tend to believe him).

Maybe you and Berman mean the same thing but I was thinking the death took a toll him and cause him to not want to play not the funeral proceedings. Maybe he means that her death had no factor at all.

I’m starting to give up on this team. Raymond Felton, JR Smith, Chris Smith, and James Dolan make me ashamed to root for the Knicks. This team is just ran by an idiot, and it sucks that he won’t sell or be forced out of ownership someway.

Hopefully The Pipes and Brandon Jennings get into a fight on Tuesday so JR Smith and his suck can be forced onto the bench. And I’m really hoping Felton reaggrevates that hamstring guarding Jennings (before said fight) so the Knicks have no choice but to play his backups, who are better NBA players than him. That should solve the problem.

Well, since the funeral was on an offday, obviously the funeral itself would not be the reason. So I imagine that when Berman says “Funeral for Metta World Peace’s sister was today. Allan Houston and other Knicks in attendance. Was not reason Metta didn’t play last night.” he was suggesting that MWP didn’t play for reasons unrelated to his sister.

In the upcoming games the Knicks could go 0:7 much more likely than 7:0.But the fact that they will wear oranges/1000 shades of dreck for six more times this year depresses me even more.
And I just now ordered my league pass to enjoy this in directors cut version . Koz Highlights/Box and Knickerblogger are not doing it for me any more. Up the dose.

December schedule looks a bit lighter on paper but there are four back to backs tho. My optimistic bet is 15:15 to end the year. Than on to Texas.
