    Extra AAO?

Bring back Shawne Williams and the Knicks would be subject to the “Wheel of Fortune” luxury tax.

Yes–another one: “I’d like to buy a vowel”

I think there’s a difference between race and nationality, Lin was born in the US.

2FOR18: Is it OK to use his ancestry like this, but it wasn’t OK in Lin’s case?

Since I’m Greek I’ll chime in. I can’t say I’m offended but it does come off as boorish.

A little more work on his mid-range jumper and he might one day earn himself the sobriquet of Pick and Papanikolaou.

I went with Big Papa, but only because of the obvious similarities to Notorious B.I.G.

    Howard Beck ?@HowardBeckNYT

Settlement reached in Bird-right case, parties announce. Lin and Novak keep their Bird rights.

  8. Gideon Zaga

Yeah I still can’t believe the Knicks passed Machado. But hey it’s the Knicks we’re talking about, they wouldn’t know a diamond unless it fell to them unknowingly and had mania or sanity attached to it.

Yippee, it should be a fun July for Knicks fans, let the free agent speculation commence

Money! If we can get JKidd / Ray Felton at the vet minimum and Kirk Hinrich for $3M mid level that would be awesome. Don’t think Ray comes for $3M, but maybe if he knows he’ll start? Foye, Delfino, Pietrus, Gerald Green, Shannon Brown also other options for the $3M MLE I think.

i could see delfino in the orange and blue, would love henrich, would like to see felton as a knick over j kidd. I guess to take everything a step forward what type of changes if any in the offense do we expect from woody? Felton and lin were fan fucking tastic in the dantoni system. If the signing of felton goes down or even without, is it expected that knick offense will be some infusion of the dantoni pick and roll/melo high post?

oh yeah and big time papa. or just big time for short since if he actually comes here it will be a much anticipated big time event

Amazes me how many people are upset they didn’t take Machado when they can just sign the guy.

Also amazes me that people can be upset about a pick that they’ve most likely never seen play.

FA money. I’m tellin u we’re good on the wing especially if Earl comes back. No real worries there..just anticipation of a healthy Shump. Frontcourt and PG is my worry. Frontcourt moreso than PG. Why? Shaky health of Stat..and Tyson Chandler most likely starting for Team USA after pretty much bein an ironman during a truncated marathon season. I worry. I know he wants to rep USA but maybe he should let the “healthier” bigs get some shine and rest this offseason. Kevin Love, D Cousins and Greg Monroe can play the 5 in the international game. Javale McGee if they wanna go with shot blocking which is Tyson’s likely role. As I said earlier I’m cool with inking Machado, Prigioni, and Hollis Thompson if it means getting another big..or maybe even Jeff Green. I think we would still get quality minutes out of Lin, Machado, Prigioni and even Douglas at the 1. Lin’s gonna play big minutes anyway so as long as he doesn’t break down again..we’re cool.In addition to being talented enough to start and produce without forcin it, Lin works his tail off so I trust him with that responsibility. Sure, he could learn alot from Kidd or Felton and he wouldn’t have to play as many minutes. But Lin earned his spot the hard way- something Kidd and Felton or Hinrich or Miller never really had to do- so I expect him to work just as hard on his game now that he’s got it. I do like the idea of Hinrich tho..especially since he has experience with what Woodson wants. Plus i’ve been a fan of his for a while. In any case, I think we need to trust more and panic less with our backcourt. Now if Hinrich signs for the vet minimum..adding him is a no brainer. Truthfully I don’t see Kidd, Felton, or Miller signing for the vet minimum unless with a Miami, LAL or OKC..teams who are believed to be much closer to a chip than NY..but the knick fan in me won’t agree lol. Nash? he’s another story. Still a star so no way he even signs for 3 mil

Ted makes a good point. But we should sign him for summer league soon. He looked good in wages if wins pre draft ranking (number 15). But there are actuslly four players ranked higher than that who didnt get drsfted, including nos. 4 & 5,,, William Mosely and Jesse Sanders..they should be worth inviting too..

Sorry, the Knicks have to acquire a decent PG to backup Lin. Not some undrafted rookie FA. I agree that unless they can sign Ray Allen at SG we are fine assuming JR returns plus Fields cold return as well so they will be fine there until Shump gets healthy.

Agreed with the lack of bigs but lets be honest there are virtually 0 minutes for backup bigs on this team. Remember Melo can play the 4 as well so I will be fine with re-signing Jeffries on a minimum deal and hope Jorts and Jordan can fill in whenever necessary. I think it will be easier to find decent cheap bigs than to find a decent cheap PG.

The one slight negative of having TD in summer league is that it might discourage a point like Machado from coming to the Knicks as he might figure he won’t get quite as much burn with TD there. Undrafted guys are really looking to showcase themselves so they want situations where they have the best chance of getting minutes and TD’s presence might scare other points away.

True on the bigs. I just wish there was at least another 5 we could bring in. I wouldn’t even be opposed to bringin Turiaf back. As far as PG, BBA I really can’t argue with your position. After all, we really don’t know what 2 expect with Machado or Prigs..assuming Grunwald grabs em. We know what we have in Douglas and Lin. One sucked and the other was amazing. That said, I really believe Hinrich is the better overall fit no matter how bad I would like to see Lin learn from Kidd. I also hope Douglas is resolved to improve upon last seasons dismal campaign. What I’m just sayin is I’m ok with goin into the season with Machado, Lin, Prigs and Douglas at PG if it happens. That’s much better than we were at the start of this past season. If Kaman would accept 3 mil and Hinrich would accept the minimum that would be great. But we really don’t have alotta options unfortunately. Even still..should be an interesting summer for us. Apparently Grunwald learned alot from Walsh..so I trust him and I’m not nervous at all. Just anxious. Still hope Tyson falls back on Team USA..or at least doesn’t play alot

things is fellas, do you really want to allow us to be back in that position where we are without a pg again if something were to happen…(not mentioning anything, knock on wood)..I have no faith in TD as a pg or shump even healthy shump, machado is unproven if he is brought in, jr if he resigns is not gonna cut it. i just strongly feel that with all the respectable pg free agents we need to lock one up unless the unlikely occurs and we lock up jr and simultaneously are able to scoop up ray alllen or oj mayo

  20. Glew

then our wings would be so legit a hypothetical secondary lineup of jr, ray allen/oj mayo, novak, melo, (any 5 thats not tired) could put up points quickly. We could run the offense through melo just the way he likes..ideally melo will force doubles and kick out to cutters or 3 point shots. when melo gets tired sub in fields perhaps bring lin back we run pick and rolls with amare/tc our starters obviously being lin, shump, melo, stat, chand dog. just kinda typing on the fly right now but that would be interesting scenario. add to that if we gripped one of those previously stated respectable pgs and man we are in business..
