I love Nate, but let's be serious here. He is not now and never will be the type of player that can be the starting PG on a team that wins the championship. He's too small to defend many bigger guards and not really the kind of player that makes those around him better like a true PG does.

He's absolutely great coming off the bench when the team needs some energy in spots where he can defend. But other than that you are all delusional if you think he can be our starting PG of the future.

I mean no disrespect. He's one of the greatest athletes in all of professional sports, but his height is a limitation in a lot of situations and he doesn't have a PG's mentality. This is coming from a guy that is 5' 5" tall. So Nate is big compared to me.

I decided to do a little searching about Gerald Green through some Celtics Blogs to get a better understanding of what exactly the reason for his demise was. What do you know I find Knicks bashing:

"Personally, I think he's a great fit for the Knicks. Not just because he is a lot of talent, zero hoops IQ, and seems to have a high opinion of himself, but also because the Knicks actually could use his outside shooting. And Isiah could finally say that he brought a champion* to New York."

Good God now Im positive Isiah will bring this guy in. Regardless of the mounting circumstantial evidence pointing towards Gerald Green not being worth the time, I agree with everyone else that given his age, potential, and our minimal $ commitment to him, might as well roll the dice. Although adding another low IQ non-defender could stoke the fire in a hugely unproductive way.

Funny stuff from Bill Simmons, here is a snipet..

What if the Knicks had never hired Isiah Thomas?

This could have been its own bizarro "Where Amazing Happens" commercial called "Where Isiah Happens."

(Cue up the annoying piano music that haunts me every time I try to fall asleep after hearing it for five straight months.)

retropkid
Any decent club has some of these…a few have all of them…so yeah, we like some of our bench guys….but it’s just amazing how far from being good we are…and after 7 years of losses…

What about taking mediocre or rough talent and creating stars? I'd rather have home grown stars than buy supposed to be superstars.

“Since we ended regulation tied instead of up 1, that one point basically cost us the game the game.”

If Chandler had not missed a free throw, or if Lee had made that put back in the 2nd quarter, or if Nate's foot was not on the line on that long two, or if Roy had missed the technical....

Any number of things could have gone the other way. If the tech was on the last play of the game then maybe you could argue that point. But that tech was a first half call was it not? I understand your point, I just think it is a bad example.

There was a game a few years ago in which Don Nelson picked up a tech after the final horn. If I recall the team hit the FT and the Warriors lost the game by 1. Now that is an example where your action is the direct and proximate cause of the loss. Does anyone else recall that game/event?
-----

If we can get Green signed for the rest of the year (do we get an injury exception for Steph?) I say you have to see what he can give you. On draft night this guy was considered a top 10 talent. We dont lose a thing by bringing him in.

As for Green, yeah, he's a slasher, but he's 22 and obviously has some real talent, while at the same time, he is not going to be picked up by any other good team, so why not give him a shot?

It's not like Collins will be here next year, so why belabor the point?

I have absolutely no problem with shows of emotion.

The only time I ever have problems with guys is when they take their show of emotion and make it into an insult of the other team - but that's really specific stuff that doesn't come up often (TO putting the ball on Dallas' logo, Jordan screaming at Van Gundy, stuff like that), and I do not think came up in Nate's game.

if Crawford made 48% of his shots this year, we would've won 10 more games...I'm thinking we can thank Crawford when Zeke gets fired....if he shot at the league average, Zeke might still be here next year...thanks Jamal! You shot him outta here!!!

What jon said plus if he shot only 50% from the field we would have lost by 10.
