I hope D’Antoni understands that this is not a fastbreak team and that more often than not we will have to depend on tight defense and iso’s down the stretch. With Turiaf, Carter, Balkman and Jeffries ball movement and team momentum is less important than execution when it counts. With this roster we will have to win games ugly and play a brand of smashmouth basketball. How we ended up with a Larry Brown wet dream coached by D’Antoni is anybody’s guess.

Yeah, this is a much different situation for Jeffries than during his first stint with the Knicks. He is a much better fit with this team than he was back then plus he is playing for the minimum.

I actually think he will be a pretty useful player and wouldnt be surprised to see him starting come playoff time.

He’s the perfect complement to Amare and Melo– he’ll play defense, and never compete for shots on the offensive end. I thought he was the best defender on the team when he started a couple of years ago. Sure they overpaid him, but that’s not his fault. Now he’s back at a reasonable salary, and should help a talented team that unfortunately isn’t composed of guys who think primarily of defense…

I would think the Public Relations department at MSG would hope that no one notices this signing. Why are they sending out a press release about this (and one that underscores Jeffries’ meager stats to boot!)?

Is it just to remind everybody that one of the worst FA signings in Knick history has been signed again as a free agent?!

Considering it took us sending away our 2009 and 2012 1st rounder just to get rid of him, I really, really can’t believe he’s back :(:(:(:(

What do you guys think about waiving Brewer and Azuibuike today? Now we only have Turiaf and a future 2nd rounder to show for the David Lee trade. A bit disappointing when you think about some of the offers that were out there.
