no, the third quarter, probably the most impressive run I’ve seen from a team this year, especially without Wade.

people forget about this, but the Spurs got pretty good defense from centers like Nazr Mohammed, Rasho Nesterovic, Francisco Elson, and paired with the best power forward ever, that was good enough.

Frank O.: With Duncan, Parker and Ginobili aging, that’s a pretty tough thing to lose. And they don’t have other players on that team that play at an elite level.

But when they played together in the first half, with energy, it was pretty impressive.

I don’t know, they’re not that old actually, they’re the 10th oldest team in the league on average… the Mavs are the oldest, and they just won a championship.

the “youngest” contender (aside from Oklahoma City, obviously, and Memphis, which I don’t consider a contender) is Chicago, which is the 12th oldest team…

of course, the core is pretty old, Duncan looks washed up and Ginobili is way too injury prone, but they have plenty of good, promising young players… the big problem, imo, is that Duncan can no longer protect the rim (he’s having a career low blk% season, 3.1, down from around 5 at his prime) and they play one 6’6” center and another one that is a 3 point shooter and not much else alongside him.

The Spurs need youth. Their first half was about as good as they can play. Parker was pengtrating and creating and Duncan hit some very nice shots. Blair was very tough in the paint. A complete effort in the first half, and it showed. As jon pointed out to me, it didn’t carry over.:)
