It still makes me laugh that people think the knicks will win under 50 games. Melos win percentage in his last 3 full seasons in den are .610,.659,.646 and they were on the way to similar in the trade year in a much tougher western conference, while this team is better than any team he had in that stretch. The team will finally have a camp to work out the game plan etc, and should finish around 52-57 wins this yr

Nevermind what Prokhorov said, it's a wonder he even talks at all after being so used to Dolan's refusal to communicate to his fanbase about the decisions of his franchise. Maybe the little man will come out and actually make a public statement -- now that would be truly mindblowing.

As much as I hate Dolan, it’s pretty hard to root for Nets’ ownership either. I believe Prokhorov’s first windall was successful jeans company that pounced on the fall of Communism. From there, however, it seemed like he made most of his fortune through shady business tactics like briberies to gain lucrative gov’t contracts while Russia was re-organizing itself.I believe that he also, through dumb luck, pulled a ton of money out of the market right before the crash in ’08… Ratner seems like your typical unscrupulous real estate developer who relies on false promises and BS about partnering with the community.
Bribery is the price of doing business in Russia. A successful business cannot avoid it. (In the USA, bribery is legalized as donations to campaigns, and supposedly non-political organizations. "Lucrative government contracts" as compensation for one's support -- sound familiar? Anyway, Dolan is clearly the superior man since he didn't have to bribe anyone; he was born with the wealth.

Oh, good, then we can put to rest the oft cited claim that Lin's value to an organization is primarily his marketing potential.

DS: That’s a pretty good point, johnlocke, although Cuban seems far more chummy with the players than Dolan.

Speaking of Jimmy and Lin. There’s this:

I’m not sure that the article draws the correct conclusions, but it is interesting that the stock is at an all-time high.

That Mikhail Prokhorov referred to Dolan as "that little man" nearly made me a Brooklyn Nets fan.
What is so brilliant about it is the statement goes so far beyond stature.
So I challenge folks to spend this day thinking of ways in which Dolan is little - without addressing his schlong, please. lol

Here are a few:

1. Dolan is little in that everything he has he inherited, and the way Comcast and the Knicks and Rangers treat their customers reflects how little Dolan actually had to put into the business himself. If he built it, his customers would come first, always.

2. Dolan is little in his clamping down on the throats of his employees in what is the media capital of the world. He has PR people follow employees around to make sure no one says anything to the media.

3. Dolan is little in his personnel decisions.

4. He is little also in that he runs a vast and interesting mix of companies and interests, but seems to care most about his less than mediocre band.

5. He also is little in that he defended outrageous sexual behavior in his own company out of devotion to a smiling weasel of a man.

"I was more than upset. I thought he was coming. I was pissed,"

"It hurt my feelings, period, because I felt that we had developed a relationship, and I thought that he was committed to the organization. It sure seemed that he was. I mean, J-Kidd was active in going out there and talking to Deron Williams the whole time. I guess it was more shocking and surprising than anything else."

If Cuban who is typically regarded as a 'smart' owner is this emotional over a 38 year old PG, imagine how Dolan really felt over Lin...
