Knicks Morning News (Thursday, Nov 22 2012)

  • [New York Daily News] Down in Big D: Mavs hand Knicks second loss, 114-111 (Thu, 22 Nov 2012 05:49:59 GMT)
Forget Linsanity. In their final game before meeting Jeremy Lin for the first time since he left New York, the Knicks were done in by the one-time high flying phenomenon known as Vinsanity.

  • [New York Daily News] Embarrassing Lin not in Knicks’ gameplan (Thu, 22 Nov 2012 02:21:29 GMT)
The countdown to Jeremy Lin has begun with Jason Kidd saying that the Knicks won’t be “looking to embarrassâ? the Rockets point guard on Friday but instead will be focused on beating Houston.

  • [New York Newsday] Knicks'rally falls short against Mavericks (Thu, 22 Nov 2012 00:39:58 EST)
Carmelo Anthony got hot in the third quarter and after hitting a jumper over Shawn Marion, he looked at the Mavericks bench and said, "He can't guard me." It turned out he could, and the Knicks were the ones who couldn't guard the Mavericks.

  • [New York Post] Anthony misses in final ticks as Knicks’ rally falls short (Thu, 22 Nov 2012 06:14:46 -0500)
DALLAS â?? The Knicks came roaring back again in the heart of Texas, reducing a late 12-point lead to one in the final minute, but their magic and Carmelo Anthony’s magic finally ran out.
There was no repeat of the great San Antonio comeback victory as Mark Cuban’s Mavericks…

  • [New York Post] Kidd solid again, but falls to ex-team (Thu, 22 Nov 2012 04:01:24 -0500)
DALLAS â?? Jason Kidd may or may not have his jersey retired in the American Airlines Center rafters if Mavericks owner Mark Cuban holds a grudge, but he still has a championship ring and looks like he might get close to adding a second one. Kidd, who made his bittersweet Dallas…

  • [New York Post] Woodson regrets narrowing rotation (Thu, 22 Nov 2012 04:01:24 -0500)
DALLAS â?? Coach Mike Woodson decided to go against his normal plan. He reduced his rotation to eight players and his Knicks looked tired on the second night of a back-to-back in Wednesday night’s 114-111 loss in Dallas.
Woodson played eight guys, meaning point guard Pablo Prigioni, Marcus Camby and…

Contrary to Kidd’s claim that they are not out to embarrass Lin tomorrow…I have to think that beating Houston and completely erasing Jeremy Lin is everyone’s #1 goal tomorrow night!

      Z-man:
One other thing, how the fuck did Crowder get drafted so low?

6’4″ SF. Also, he hasn’t secure ONE offensive rebound in 222 minutes. That’s worrisome.

    3. Z-man

He didn’t seem that short out there, maybe the hair makes for an optical illusion. He played pretty well vs. us in both games, but it seems like he has had lots of poor games as well. Still looks more like a mid-late first rounder.

That was a painful loss. Not sure why Woodson didn’t use his bench more in this one, on a back-to-back. It’s not like JR or Novak were playing well at all.

Very winnable game, but I guess you get a few of those throughout the season.

Jumping ahead to Friday: If Melo plays within himself he should have a big game scoring and passing. There is nobody on Hou roster that should be able to guard him. I love my boy Parsons but he is to weak and Patterson and Morrison are not on Melo’s level. I do worry about Asik blocking him or fouling him without it being called.

Also, RuRu what happen to Melo’s vertical explosion? In Denver he could jump a little. I know he has never been thought of as an elite leaper but when he drove he could get up and put it down.

The terrible whistle Melo has been getting all season to date needs to get fixed soon. That sort of treatment can be the difference in a playoff series, which really scares me.

Oh and what if Melo screamed something besides “Oh Shyt” when he gets hacked because the refs may have gotten used to it. lol.

A few items from around the NBA:

      – The Lakers gave up 40 points to the Kings in the 4th quarter last night. Yes, 40 points to Sacramento. Wow.

      – The “best backcourt in the NBA” shot a combined 9-25 last night in a loss to Golden State. Joe Johnson’s FG% is a whopping 36% after 10 games.

      – The Bobcats are 6-4!!

      Happy Turkey Day, K-Bloggers!

Miami needs to dump Norris Cole. There’s no way that they can’t find someone in the D-League or a UFA who can post better than a 41 TS% shooting next to four of the best players in the NBA.

As far as I’m concerned, Miami needs to play him 35 minutes a night lol

Toney Douglas and Rodney Stuckey have been getting some crunch time minutes this year. Is there someone else out there? Knicks have have struck a gold mine with Prigs, could have some serious trade value if he can at least start hitting open 3’s

Is this because there’s no one out there or is it because talent evaluators are bad at their jobs?

Or is it because of a lack of talent? Seriously who is out there? Derek Fisher? Mike Bibby? Norris Cole is getting legit burn and he’s not even close to the worst backup PG in the league, these guys have to be able to at least defend credibly. That’s why Machado isn’t getting burn in Houston
