The Heat play an aggressive trapping, helping, closing out defense. If one cog is off, it throws the entire system off. We’ll have our own little experiment on that point, once Amare re-joins the lineup.

Well, we're already conducting that experiment with Novak whose rotations have been every bit as bad as Amar'e's have ever been- and at least Amar'e bumbles his way into a blocked shot and grabs a rebound every now and then. Novak's man defense (like Amar'e's) is actually okay but as a helper he's nonexistent.

Nick C.: I just looked he underwent ulnar nerve transposition surgery yesterday. It sure seems like most of last years roster has dropped off the face of the NBA map. Bibby, Davis, Walker, while guys like Jorts and Jefferies are 13-15th men (as is the great Earl Barron).

Somehow Toney Douglas has managed to remain a backup point guard after being the worst out of all those players last year. Him and Fields are the only castoffs getting serious minutes, and they have somehow been worse than last year. Brewer and Prigs have been such massive upgrades that it doesn't seem real that the Knicks got them for nothing. A 35 year old rookie and a veteran who retired 2 years ago (and was washed up for 4) have been giving the Knicks productive minutes this season. If Grunwald doesn't win exec of the year (unless Houston makes the playoffs behind Harden and Lin) then this year is a total farce

johnlocke:
Our former starting 2 guard – stats:
21% shooting from the field, 0% shooting from three, and 67% from the line and a whopping 3 rebounds per game in 21 minutes.

I knew it was a good idea to not match him….but WOW. Our overall backcourt has had a SERIOUS upgrade from last year.
