I looked up Amare’s injury. Such cysts are symptomatic of another issue, such as arthritis or a tear of some kind. Since that is the knee that was surgically repaired, it could be that his knee is arthritic. One way or another, another injury retards Amare’s preparation for the season. Shit

</blockquote>

It could be arthritis as microfracture surgery creates new cartilage that is not as strong as the original. It can also be as a result of weakness in the synovium (joint lining) where the scope was introduced into his knee to do the original surgery (poke hole into synovium). The knee does not have to be arthritic to cause this problem......or it can be a combination of the two.

I think Copeland made a strong case for more minutes, especially with Amare hurt.
Kurt's minutes need to be limited Given his age.

So I'm guessing Kurt Thomas is the starter, and Tyson Chandler is our main (& only) pick and roll big in the regular season rotation? I'm not exactly worried/upset about Amar'e missing 2-3 weeks. It's disheartening, but I have faith in Chandler as the roll man. He's nowhere near as proficient as Amar'e in terms of finishing with defense around him, but he's still a really good P&R roll man. What worries me is that Felton may get to take more shots.

OK..I have no worries about offense when Stat and Melo are on the floor. Defensively they need to tighten up. I know it was only one preseason game..but our D suffered when those two played together. I've said this many times before..it's not Stat's ability- it's in his head. Everyone said Melo was a slouch on D. And while he's no younger version of the Artest formerly known as Ron..we've seen him ramp up his effort on D to the point where we've all said "man, if he could do this consistently..". Stat not so much. But the movement skills, size, strength and athleticism are still there to make Stat a decent defender. I mean..summer with Dream, Kurt-Sheed-Camby-Chandler to practice with..what more does he need to get his head in the game defensively? Am I over-reacting? On a good note if we can keep guys healthy, we wil have a really good season. Ray's shots aren't fallin, but I like the way he, Kidd, and Prigs are runnin the offense. They all seem to be setting guys up in their comfort zones really well. Especially Prigs. Copeland? While I prefer a younger guy to develop behind the vets..there is NO WAY he doesn't make the team. Dude can ball. I wouldn't be surprised if he cracks the rotation. After watchin White finally settle in, I think we'll be fine at the 2 until Shump returns. Between White, Smith, Shump, and Brewer..and the occasional Kidd entry at the 2, we should get solid minutes outta that spot. Definitely much better production than we would have gotten outta Landry. Still miss him tho. Sometimes I can't help but wonder how a full camp with that Lin-Fields backcourt would have made the team look like.
