Thanks for the inputs. It makes me want to see him play. Caleb, I know just what you mean about Mark Jackson. But it could also be he learned something sitting on the bench in OKC. It's impossible to tell.

His passing seems to be way better... Crawford and Z-Bo also had good weeks. Better than all those scrubs we unloaded on Denver. :)

KnickfaninNJ:
Has anyone else noticed that Nate Robinson seems to have become a better basketball player in the last two years, at least according to his statistics? I haven’t seen him play in a long time, but his assist per game have doubled to 5 per game and his assists per 36 minutes have gone up almost as much.Nothing else, scoring, rebounding, steals whatever has gotten worse.Per basketball reference, this seems to have started in OKC,but really shown up in Golden State. And limited data suggests this is continuing in Chicago.Does anyone have any comments on this?Has anyone seen him play lately? Is he any different?

Per some stats guys, big changes like this are not supposed to happen, so I am curious what’s going on.

I dunno, depends what you mean by big changes.. Nate has always been a reasonably effecient scorer, even taking a fair amount of shots, and was always a fairly low-turnover guy (contra his reputation as a wildman). The scoring & shooting haven't changed. But for whatever reason, at age 27 he really took off as a playmaker in Golden State. Do we dare give Mark Jackson some credit? It will be interesting to see if it's a fluke or if Nate can keep it up.

interesting, even at 5'7 he was an above-average rebounder in NY, but that part of his game has really fallen off. Maybe he's been coached hard to get back on D instead of hitting the boards.

the great thing about this start is that we've seen Carmelo play like a true superstar (2nd quarter of game #1 notwithstanding).

the bad thing about this start is that we've seen that all those things people wrote/said about Melo last year (mostly effort stuff, but also about being in shape) was all true.

I'm a look forward kind of guy, not a relive the past sort of guy, so I'm really happy the new Melo is here. I'll choose to believe that he's here to stay and that he'll give this kind of effort for at least 70+ games this year. But wow is there a huge difference when he is 100% engaged and with the program.
